Chapter 384: Evacuate quickly with your target
Chapter 384: Evacuate quickly with your target
The cold touch of the iron sheet reached Su Ming, but his attention was focused on the faint sound of footsteps in the distance. This rhythm of footsteps was not that of ordinary patrolling soldiers, but rather that of a trained combat squad.
"Ajie, I need you to help me cut off the nearby power grid." Su Ming said in a low voice with a cold look in his eyes.
"Understood. It's being processed, but it will take two minutes." Ajie's voice was a little nervous.
Two minutes was a long test for Su Ming. His breathing became extremely shallow, his eyes fixed on the faint flickering flashlight in the distance. He knew that his pursuers were well-equipped and well-coordinated, making this a difficult, tug-of-war.
The footsteps drew closer, and Su Ming's heartbeat quickened, but his grip remained steady as a rock. He pulled a flashbang from his waist, silently releasing the safety, and waited for the perfect moment.
"The power grid has been cut off," Ajie's voice echoed, and Su Ming's lips curled up slightly. He quickly threw a flash grenade toward the location closest to the footsteps, then jumped up, slid down from the roof of the car, and entered a nearby sewer.
The instant the flashbang exploded, a blinding white light enveloped the alley. The pursuer growled in pain, clearly completely thrown off balance by the flashbang. Su Ming dashed into the sewer at top speed, his nostrils filled with the stench of dampness and decay, but he paid it no mind.
In the narrow, dark tunnel, Su Ming's movements remained smooth and swift. He moved forward swiftly, each step decisive and light. Simultaneously, his mind simulated every possible scenario. He had to find the exit and ensure he was completely out of reach of the enemy before they could react.
"Ajie, I need a complete map of the nearby sewers." Su Ming said as he walked, tapping the micro-projection device on his wrist.
"Data is loading for you. The exit is four hundred meters ahead, but there may be an ambush at the exit." Ajie's voice came again, with a hint of caution.
"It would be strange if there was no ambush." Su Ming chuckled, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
He quickly adjusted his plan, choosing a more secluded passage. Although this route was longer, it effectively avoided possible ambush points. His movements were as smooth as flowing water, each turn with impeccable precision.
Just as he turned a corner, he suddenly sensed a strange presence. He stopped, put his ear close to the pipe wall, and listened carefully. Sure enough, a faint grinding sound came from the front. Someone was lying in ambush.
Su Ming took a deep breath, adjusted his breathing, and slowly reached for the dagger at his leg. Cautiously, he approached the source of the sound, his movements as light as falling leaves. The moment he aimed, he struck out swiftly, subduing the lurker to the ground.
"Who sent you?" Su Ming asked in a low voice, with a cold tone in his voice.
The other party had clearly not expected to be subdued so quickly. A hint of fear crossed his face, but he quickly regained his composure and remained silent. Su Ming narrowed his eyes, sensing the other party's determination.
"It doesn't matter," Su Ming muttered, knocking the man unconscious and dragging him aside. He had no time to waste on interrogation; his priority now was to leave this dangerous area.
As his pace quickened, he finally reached the exit. A faint ray of moonlight filtered through the iron bars above, bringing a long-lost sense of relief to Su Ming. However, he didn't rush to the exit, instead using a micro-drone to survey the surroundings.
The drone's feed showed two enemies lying in ambush near the exit. Su Ming quickly analyzed the surrounding terrain and decided to circle around to an abandoned pipe to the right of the exit and launch a surprise attack from there.
He held his breath, crawled forward, and quietly approached his target under the cover of darkness. When he was close enough to strike, he quickly struck with both hands, knocking down the two men with precision.
Without any hesitation, Su Ming quickly climbed out of the sewer and disappeared into the night. He knew that this was only a temporary victory, and the real challenge was still to come.
He found a temporary hiding spot, leaned his back against a tree, and closed his eyes for a moment. The chase scene still played out in his mind, every detail crystal clear. He didn't regret his decision, but deep down, he felt a tinge of fatigue.
"Su Ming, are you okay?" Ajie's voice interrupted his thoughts.
"It's okay, it just takes some time to adjust." Su Ming replied softly, with a hint of fatigue in his tone.
"You performed very well tonight, but the next task may be more complicated," said Ajie.
"I know. I'm ready." Su Ming opened his eyes, his gaze rekindled with determination. He gathered his gear, stood up again, and continued on his way to the next target point.
This was a battle with no end in sight, but Su Ming never backed down. He knew that as long as he kept going, he would eventually find his answer.
Su Ming hid deep in the mountains, the air thick with the scent of damp earth. His eyes fixed on the village in the distance—their target location for tonight. A key intelligence officer was hiding there, but the enemy had already laid a tight net. Every step of the plan raced through his mind, calculating how to complete the mission in the shortest possible time.
"Su Ming, are you sure we're going to act tonight?" Ajie's voice in the headset was hesitant. "According to intelligence, the patrol team in the village has just changed shifts, and the number of people is double the estimated number."
"The tighter the defense, the more important this target is." Su Ming responded in a low voice, his eyes revealing a sharpness.
Ajie was silent for a moment and sighed: "Okay, I will monitor the situation at all times, but you have to be careful and don't let yourself get caught up in it."
Su Ming put away his headphones and took a deep breath. He knew that every step forward in the mission meant a doubling of danger, but he never allowed himself to retreat. This wasn't just a professional conviction; it was an instinct deep in his bones.
He carefully circumvented the security cordon outside the village, his movements swift and silent. The village lights were sparse, and the occasional barking of dogs heightened the tension. He climbed a nearby tree and observed the surrounding defenses from above.
His heartbeat gradually slowed, and he forced himself to calm down. The enemy's defenses were tight, and every path held hidden dangers. However, Su Ming discovered a narrow path next to the well at the entrance of the village, which happened to avoid the main patrol line. A smile curved his lips, and he murmured softly, "It seems this is my opportunity."
He lightly leaped down from the tree, using the cover of the grass to quickly approach the well. Two soldiers were standing not far away, smoking and chatting. Su Ming held his breath, lowered his body completely, and quietly slipped into the trail. Each of his steps was as light as a feather, as if even the earth was unaware of his presence.
At the end of the narrow path, a low wooden door came into view. Su Ming slowly approached, pressing his ear to the door, and heard a low conversation. He quickly determined that there were at least two people inside. Gripping the dagger in his hand, he quickly simulated possible attack scenarios in his mind.
"When do you think they will come to pick us up?" A voice sounded a little uneasy and a little suspicious.
"Don't guess blindly. The commander said they will arrange the safest way to pick you up." The other voice was much calmer and revealed a sense of sophistication.
Su Ming sneered. The conversation between the two men had already revealed a lot of information. He slowly pushed the door open, his movements as light as a cat, his eyes cold and incomparable. Once inside the room, he quickly attacked and pinned the two men to the ground.
"Shut up if you don't want to die." His voice was low but full of intimidation.
The two men were terrified, not daring to make a sound. Su Ming quickly searched their belongings and found a map and several documents. He glanced at the map and confirmed the intelligence officer's exact location.
"Sorry, everyone's rendezvous plan has to be changed." Su Ming sneered and left the room, closing the door again, and sealing it tightly with a rope to ensure that no one would chase out.
His steps were swift and light, following the direction marked on the map. Inside a small house in the center of the village lay the target's hiding place. Su Ming paused again, catching his breath and observing his surroundings. His eyes, sharp as an eagle's, caught sight of the two snipers lurking on the rooftop.
"It seems that the enemy really attaches great importance to this target." He thought to himself, then went around to the back of the hut and approached the target using the shadow of the wall.
At this moment, the lights in the target's house went out, and silence fell. Su Ming stopped by the window and listened carefully, hearing faint gasps from within. He confirmed that the target was still alive, but he also understood that the enemy had likely set a trap inside.
Su Ming pulled a miniature concussion bomb from his belt and gently rolled it through the window. A second later, a brief vibration echoed from the room, followed by silence. He quickly climbed through the window and saw two unconscious guards on the ground. He quickly searched the room, finally finding his target in a corner.
"Who are you?" The intelligence officer was obviously frightened and stared at Su Ming warily.
"Save your people." Su Ming replied simply, quickly untying the man's bonds. "Come with me, or you will die here."
The other party hesitated for a moment, but quickly nodded. He knew that he had no choice at this moment.
Su Ming quickly evacuated with his target, following a small path out of the village. However, before they had gone far, a rapid alarm sounded behind them. Clearly, the enemy had noticed something was amiss.
"Don't stop." Su Ming shouted in a low voice, urging the other party to speed up.
They ran all the way, nearly being caught up by pursuers several times. Just as Su Ming was about to activate the planned backup evacuation route, he suddenly stopped and pinned his target to the ground.
"Don't move!" He warned in a low voice, then threw a smoke bomb, covering the surroundings in thick white smoke.
Using the smoke as cover, Su Ming quickly led his target into a hidden stream. They dove into the water, swam several hundred meters down the stream, and finally escaped the pursuit.
