There are different types of gossip. Since the theory of Shao Yong in the Song Dynasty was spread by Zhu Xi, the congenital gossip and the acquired gossip are known to the public, but the mid-heaven gossip produced by contemporary people is rarely known.

Shao Yong called the congenital gossip Fuxi gossip, and this arrangement was recorded in "Huangji Jingshi", and there was a congenital gossip map circulated shortly after his death.The congenital gossip diagram usually appears in conjunction with the Taiji diagram. Taiji is the Hunyuan and Chaos in which yin and yang are united, so some people call the "Taiji-style Xiantian gossip" the Hunyuan gossip.

The main basis of innate gossip is in "Book of Changes? Shuo Gua Zhuan": "The positioning of heaven and earth, the ventilation of mountains and rivers, the thinning of thunder and wind, and the inconsistency of water and fire. Dry matches (represents) the sky, Kun matches the earth, Dui matches Ze, Li matches fire, Zhen matches thunder, Sunda matches wind, Kan matches water, and Gen matches mountains.
