Chapter 988 - 949: Sibling Bonding
Chapter 988 - 949: Sibling Bonding
In the hallway,
two children are pushing a stroller, followed by a nurse. Curly is very careful while pushing, afraid the stroller might tip over and hurt the soft and seemingly boneless Little Monster.
"Curly, why don’t you like your brother? Having a little brother is great. I wish I had a little brother or sister," George said enviously.
Growing up as an only child, George was rather lonely and hoped for a sibling.
"Such an ugly brother, how embarrassing to take him out."
"But you shouldn’t just judge by appearances."
"You fell for my looks."
"That’s not true."
"Besides being pretty, I’m bad-tempered, spoiled, and immature. Don’t tell me you like me because of my bad temper, spoiled nature, and immaturity."
George pursed his lips, glanced at Curly, and shyly smiled. Even his ears turned red.
"I like you even with your bad temper, spoiled behavior, and immaturity..."
"I don’t like you!"
"Liking someone is a personal matter."
"A one-sided love is just unrequited; mutual affection is love. The most painful thing in this world is unrequited love," Curly said with the wisdom of an old soul, as if she’d seen it all.
The nurse following them couldn’t help but laugh, "How old are you to know so much?"
"I read books."
"What books?"
"’A Windy Love Affair,’ ’My Ex-Boyfriend,’ ’Inside and Outside the Walls’..."
"I’ve read all those. But you’re so young to be reading these, don’t your parents object?"
Curly cheekily replied, "I read them at Auntie Leanne’s house. She doesn’t mind. Auntie Leanne says for girls, knowing certain things early isn’t bad."
"Who is Auntie Leanne?"
"Auntie Leanne is a screenwriter. The books I mentioned earlier are all written by her. Auntie Leanne is amazing, she can make a lot of money just by writing casually."
The nurse’s eyes lit up with excitement, "The Auntie Leanne you mentioned, could she be the famous Screenwriter Leanne?"
"I don’t know Screenwriter Leanne."
"Screenwriter Leanne is a title of respect."
"Oh."
A pair of young parents walked over, noticing how pretty Curly and George were and taking a closer look. As they got near, they saw there was a newborn baby in the stroller, whose features resembled those of the little girl.
The woman stopped, bent down to look at the baby in the stroller, and asked, "Is this your brother? He looks a lot like you."
Upon hearing this, Curly was unhappy. Little Monster was ugly, implying they looked alike meant she was ugly too?
"Is this your brother?"
Curly pouted and whispered, "This isn’t my brother, this is our nanny’s child!"
Curly pushed the stroller and strode away.
George smiled at the slightly stunned Auntie, then chased after Curly.
"It isn’t cheap to give birth in this hospital. The nanny is so wealthy, why be a nanny? Could it be the nanny climbed into the owner’s bed?"
...
Newborn babies get a bath once every other day. The baby bathrooms are in a large room with a constant temperature of 23-26°C.
When Curly and the others entered, there were more than a dozen parents in line with hospital-use strollers.
Seeing so many babies, Curly instinctively protected her brother by her side, then scanned through every child, realizing their Little Monster wasn’t the ugliest.
Curly felt relieved.
"George, there are so many babies; help me keep an eye on Little Monster so he doesn’t get mixed up," Curly worriedly said.
"Okay."
After waiting over ten minutes, their turn finally came, the nurse seeing just two kids asked, "Why are there only the two of you, where are your parents?"
"My parents are in the ward."
"My parents are at the cancer hospital with my grandpa."
The nurse looked at the two children, "Aren’t you siblings?"
"No, she’s my future wife." Whenever anyone asked, George would tell people about their relationship like this.
Someone once said, repeat a lie 15 times and it becomes true.
When they grow older, repeating this lie a thousand times will make it true.
"Nurse Sister, don’t listen to my brother’s nonsense, he’s my brother." Curly hugged George’s head close; their faces were side by side, "Sister, you see we actually look very alike, hehe..."
"Yes, you do look alike; if you’re not siblings, you look like a married couple!"
"Hehe, we’re not siblings," George said.
George glanced at Curly, blushing, thinking: Hmm, we do look a bit alike.
A married couple look?
Does that mean they will become a married couple in the future?
The nurse walked inside with the baby, and Curly followed, wanting to enter too when the nurse said, "Little one, you can’t go in."
"I can’t, my mom told me to watch Little Monster."
"No, you can’t. The newborn baby has a weak immune system; you going in might bring in bacteria, and the baby will get sick."
"What if you mix Little Monster up?"
The nurse smiled and showed Curly the tag on the baby’s foot, "See, the baby has a tag with the parents’ names; no way to mix them up."
"I really can’t go in?"
"You can’t."
"Okay then, you take care of Little Monster." Curly reminded.
"Don’t worry, I won’t lose your brother."
"Little Monster isn’t my brother!" Curly turned her head to the side, awkwardly speaking.
"You two look so alike, clearly siblings."
"Where do we look alike? He’s so ugly..."
"When he grows older, he’ll become handsome."
The nurse went inside with the baby, Curly crouched at the door, looking through the glass at Little Monster. Inside, it was so warm the glass fogged up, making it hard to see anything.
...
In the ward,
Adrian was completely baffled why Sienna would let Curly take the baby for a bath. What if she actually lost him?
"Aren’t you afraid Curly might lose your son?"
"If she loses him, I’ll just pick him back up," Sienna said nonchalantly.
"Hey, I’m talking seriously here."
Sienna raised her eyes to glance at the anxious Adrian, explaining, "Feelings between people don’t arise out of nowhere. Like adoptive parents and children, once the biological parents are gone and the adoptive parents raise them, the children’s bond with adoptive parents becomes deeper than with their biological parents.
Siblings are the same. Bonds need time to develop and gradually deepen.
If you want Curly to like her brother, there’s no point in lecturing her. Let them spend time together; the bond will form.
Aren’t there nurses around? Why are you worrying?"
"..."
"You should trust your daughter; she’s so good to Snowy, let alone her brother."
"But Snowy looks better than my son."
