Chapter 671: It’s Been a Year

Hey, Ai, any idea where we are?

I see, that’s-...huh? Wait, you can connect to the internet? I thought you couldn’t without my I-Watch?

Huh. I mean, I appreciate it and all, this should make a big difference, but...wow, it’s no wonder she got caught.

Anyway...

"Alright, I know this situation sucks and all, but our only option is to fight to get our lives back. So, let’s work together to take out these Angels one by one," I remarked, as I glanced at the new pair.

"Yeah, you’re right...wallowing and despairing isn’t going to accomplish anything. I’m not very strong yet, but I’ll do what I can to help," Responded Alkimia, meeting my gaze with a determined look in her eyes.

"Damn it, this isn’t fucking fair! Alright, fine, I’ll play along with these damned Gods, I’ll fucking murder those Angels, I’ll tear them to shreds and torture the shit out of them...!" Growled Leto, a trickle of blood running down his chin as he bit down on his lower lip, his shoulders trembling as he clenched his fists.

He had a dark look in his eyes, he was radiating hatred, spite and bloodlust. Okay, uh, I should probably keep an eye on him, he’s got some serious issues.

"By the way, uh...where did you guys disappear to for the last year?" Alkimia asked us.

What?

"Huh? A year?" Blurted out Ciel in bewilderment.

"I-It’s been a y-year since we d-disappeared?" Spoke up Cleo, her eyes widening.

"Yeah, you guys vanished in Sanctuary Alpha in March last year. Today’s date is the 20th of March, 2172," Alkimia informed us.

Seriously? We were only in the other world for a couple of weeks or so, how did so much time pass in this world? No, I suppose that’s the least of our concerns right now.

"We’ll worry about that later. Come on, let’s talk in here," I remarked, opening a portal into my Pocket Dimension.

I’ve opened it into an isolated space, separate from the area where mom is. It’ll take a while to explain the situation to her, so first, I’ll sort things out with these two.

"Woah, what is this?" Muttered Alkimia in awe, looking around as she walked in.

I shut the portal as everyone entered, before walking over towards some couches and taking a seat. The others followed suit and joined me, sitting down and looking at me, a tension filling the air.

"Let’s get right down to it. To broadly outline our plan, we’ll first need to find out where each of the Angels are located. Reality has been changed, but a bit of searching online should help us figure out the current situation. Since these Angels have replaced me, Ciel and Cleo as part of the group that saved the world, it shouldn’t be hard to figure out who they are. The Gods said that the Angels won’t hide, so once we locate them, it’s a simple matter of targeting them one by one. That said, the Angels are almost certainly going to be insanely powerful, it likely isn’t going to be easy to defeat them," I surmised with a grimace.

"U-Um, there’s also the m-matter regarding d-deaths...e-even if we win, a-anyone who dies will s-stay dead. S-So, first we’ll have to s-scout our t-targets, a-and then figure out a w-way to get them s-somewhere isolated," Replied Cleo awkwardly, fidgeting as Alkimia and Leto glanced at her.

"Hah, who cares? I don’t care what it takes, I want my fucking life back! So what if there’s some collateral damage and casualties, huh? That’s on the Gods, not us!" Declared Leto with a huff.

"Yeah, no, we can’t just kill a bunch of innocent people if we can avoid it. It should be fine, though. Even if we attack the Angels out in the open, we can just fire off attacks in safe directions until all the civilians have evacuated. After that, we won’t need to hold back," Pointed out Ciel.

"Maybe, but Hunters are sure to show up shortly after, assuming there aren’t any in the vicinity to begin with," Countered Alkimia objectively.

"Hm, which means we’ll need to hold them off. That shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve got my Apostles, and you should be able to spare two of your Spirits, Cleo," I chimed in.

"Y-Yeah, that’s fine, I-I only need one f-for Spirit Fusion, s-so I can spare the other t-two to help your A-Apostles hold off any Hunters f-from interfering," She nodded in response.

"Alright, not bad, the more we talk about it, the more this sounds doable," I replied, feeling hopeful.

"Tch, that’s such a waste. First off, what are these Spirits you mentioned? And second, your Apostles, those undead summons, right? Why not have them fight the Angels too? The more numbers we have, the easier it’ll be to overwhelm the Angels, we’ll have a better chance of winning!" Exclaimed Leto incredulously.

"It’s not that simple. Too many numbers can backfire. We’ll end up getting in each other’s way, we won’t be able to fight at our best. Coordination is what’ll be important, if we can properly coordinate and time our attacks to complement each other, that’s our best chance of winning," I responded, Leto averting his gaze with a click of his tongue.

"I’d like to try just getting in close and letting off an explosion at full throttle. Besides your Obliterate, that’s probably the most surefire way to defeat one of them," Suggested Ciel with a gleam in her eyes.

"Well, not necessarily," I replied, adding as I glanced at Alkimia and Leto, "Getting the two of you stronger would be ideal, but unfortunately, we don’t have the luxury of time. Still, that doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t have a part to play. So, on that note...tell us about your Systems and the abilities that come with them."
