Chapter 263: Our 4 Months Together Part I
Chapter 263: Our 4 Months Together Part I
“Na!”
The name that was well known among those best friends was from in front of a computer graphics major classroom in an applied arts faculty building, making a tall man in a large university uniform shirt pause. His eyes behind a pair of black thick glasses glanced back and saw a man and a woman walking toward him with a smile on their faces.
“Oh, why are you wearing glasses today?” Tunwa asked.
“My contact lanes are out. How about you guys? I thought you would be waiting at the Pride office already, why are you still here?”
His question made the only girl in the group have an upset expression.
“It’s this guy’s brother.”
Nuchjaree the tomboy-looking girl pushed the said guy slightly, making the listener raise his eyebrows.
“Tun’s brother? Non?”
“That’s him.”
“What’s your big brother’s problem now, Tun?” Wisana asked.
Tunwa, a handsome boy who loved dressing like a hipster with all his heart, turned to smile wryly at him before he shrugged as a reply.
“He said he had an urgent case to deal with, so he asked to borrow my Lemon.”
“Guess that case’s very serious that he had to use your girl like this. So, he just came and took it?”
“Yeah, just now. He said he would give my girl some treats, so I lent him.”
Hearing that, Wisana scratched his cheek, side-eyeing Nuchjaree like he was trying to imply something.
The Lemon that Tunwa was talking about was a lime green Austin Mini car that had been modified to drive at 160/hour speed easily. It was Tunwa’s favorite car that he got as a gift from his family for passing the university entrance exam.
As everyone knew, this guy loved his car like his daughter. And he even named it Lemon so cutely as well, so about the treat it was about to get some gas. That was all.
“So, you’re tagging along in my car, right?”
“That’s right, bro. Go to the same destination, go together.”
Then the cheeky one gave him a grin that made the listener shake his head wearily. However, he still tilted his chin to make them follow anyway. Today was the last day of their midterm exam. And Wisana was quite satisfied with his performance in the first half of his third year. At least he could still be sure that his name was still on the first honor students list with this score.
“How was your exam?
The messy-haired man started a conversation, so the atmosphere was not too quiet. But after his two best friends heard the question, they started to make withering faces while face-palming all together.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Wisana asked.
“Just don’t talk about it, Na. Math and I are like oil and water, that is why we will not get along, as you might already know.” Tunwa said as he dropped his shoulders.
“How about you, Nuch? You couldn’t do it at all?”
“It was the worst thing in my life. I really want to kill those who invented all these messed-up formulas. How is this kind of math useful in daily life though?!”
“It obviously was not going so well. At least not for you.”
Wisana smiled amusedly, while he was feeling sorry for his best friends who had to repeat this math 1 class again. Actually, they had already had this class when they were in their first year, but it turned out that he was the only one who passed the class beautifully with an A, while the other two got an F typically.
“Come on. I think you guys will pass it this time.” He said, then placed his arms around his friends’ shoulders. “At least you’ve got a special tutorial from a math grandmaster like me already, right? In the worst case, you’ll get a D.”
“That’d be a miracle for me,” Nuchjaree said, looking like she was about to tear up.
Hearing that, the one who was good at math scratched his cheek, before he decided to change the topic.
“Anyway, why does Non need your car?”
“He said something about arresting some motorcycle gangs around Don Mueang. Have you ever heard of Meng Lays Down?”
“Yeah, that sounds like a motor gang’s name, so should I’ve heard of him?”
Tunwa laughed.
“Yeah, he’s been planning to arrest that gang anyway. And those jackasses are so fast, his old car will never catch up with them. So, he had to borrow my car to try them a bit.”
“Well, and you let him borrow your car anyway. Aren’t you afraid that Lemon will be scared when she’s back?”
“You have to try riding in the same car with him, Na.” He said and let out a long sigh. “Even Vin Diesel calls him father, to be honest. If someone needs to go to the restroom, they will piss in the car when he’s behind the wheel. That’s why he was promoted to be the inspector of speed police.”
“I see,” Wisana said, then smiled amusedly.
Non was Tunwa’s biological brother, who was 6 years older than them. Currently, he was an inspector with the best skill.
“Anyway, can we go to Pride’s office later? Maybe we should wait until we’re back from Chiang Mai.”
Tunwa changed the topic again after they walked past the spirit house to the university’s parking lot. Wisana pressed his palms together to show his respect for the spirit there, then turned and sneered at his best friend instantly.
“Next semester, we’re going to be trainees at the company, you know. Introducing ourselves to them early is necessary. If you postpone it too long, we will not have the application approved to turn in to the university.”
“Na’s right. You should do something early sometimes. Dad was even the one who recommended us, you want to discredit him?”
“Discredit him?” Tunwa objected. “Dad wasn’t the one who recommended us, to be exact. It was actually someone else, ...someone who’s so close to someone here as well.”
Hearing that, Wisana caught eye with Nuchjaree.
“Who?”
“Come on, don’t play dumb. She’s your sweetheart’s family, right? So, I think, maybe she was the one who got us to be trainees in that department, since she works there as well. ...No, I think all this is happening is because of Na alone.”
Nuchjaree smiled knowingly at that reference, right away as she held up her hand to hit Wisana’s shoulder harshly.
“What Tun said makes sense though. You’re so lucky. Your dad works at Pride, your girlfriend’s aunt works at Pride, and they both are in one of those major positions as well. What a small world, huh? Seems like your future is going to be so bright at Pride as well.”
“You’re being ridiculous, Nuch.”
Then the luckiest one hit his friend’s forehead softly.
“Speaking of your sweetheart, you don’t have to drive her home today, my friend?”
Nuchjaree asked after they got to the parking lot. But Wisana only sped up his feet toward his black Civic car, because the context in their conversation started to be referred to him more and more now.
“That’s right. I always see you guys sticking together, picking her up, and driving her home every day. So, why are you alone with your friends today?”
Tunwa’s words made the one who was getting nagged let out a hard sigh.
“She’s finished her exam with Nam since yesterday. So, she didn’t come to the university today.”
“Oh, that’s why you have some time for us.” Nuchjaree teased amusedly.
“Indeed. Finding you is as hard as finding a needle in a haystack lately, you know?” Tunwa did not wait for a second to join in with her.
“Knock it off, jerks.” He scolded as he pressed the key to unlock the car doors. “If you want to ride my car to Pride’s office safely, stop nagging me, or I’ll freaking kick you two out in the middle of the tollway.”
“Aw, so sensitive, so untouchable.” Nuchjaree smiled mockingly, making the one who saw that shake his head wearily.
“Are you coming or not?”
“Of course, we are. Why’d you have to ask?”
Then the three took their seats in the car. Wisana was behind the wheel with Tunwa sitting next to him in the front. They started pulling the seat belts to buckle up as Nuchjaree got in the back seat, then leaned her face in between the front seats.
“Anyway, have you checked out the plane ticket yet?”
