After Giving Birth, All My Beast Ex-Husbands Suddenly Want Me Back

Chapter 310: The creature

Chapter 310: The creature

The moment Nina entered the sea, her legs transformed into a shimmering golden fishtail.

She blinked in surprise.

So this is the power of the merfolk pearl?

Lex and the others stared at her in stunned amazement.

Nina... no, Mermaid Nina... was even more breathtaking than before.

Her golden tail glimmered beneath the water like flowing sunlight, each scale radiant and ethereal, so beautiful it almost felt unreal.

Before long, they arrived at the Abyss of Darkness.

"Nina, we’ll first pass through the underwater volcanic zone," Keil explained gravely. "The eruptions are unpredictable. If we’re lucky, we may avoid them entirely, but we still need to stay alert."

"Alright," Nina replied.

Lani then turned to Dian. "Dian, stay outside with part of the clan and wait as backup. If anything happens, contact Nina immediately."

He knew Dian possessed the special communication crystal that allowed him to speak directly with Nina.

"Understood. Be careful," Dian answered.

He knew his current strength was insufficient. Rather than becoming a burden, he chose to remain behind.

Leaving Dian and the others at the outer perimeter, Nina’s group descended deeper into the Abyss of Darkness.

Fortunately, luck seemed to be on their side.

They passed through the volcanic region without encountering a single eruption.

But the moment they crossed beyond it, countless pairs of eerie blue-white eyes suddenly appeared in the darkness ahead.

And they were rushing toward them at terrifying speed.

"These fish are highly venomous!" Keil shouted. "Do not let them bite you!"

The last time they came here, many merfolk had died in this very place.

"Everyone, activate your shields!" Nina ordered immediately. "Use the weapons I gave you to attack any fish that come close. We need to break through quickly!"

At her command, everyone instantly activated their protective barriers.

They trusted Nina completely. Anything she gave them had proven useful before.

This time, the weapons Nina provided were specially designed for aquatic enemies—wide-range weapons with devastating power against schools of fish.

The poisonous creatures barely had time to approach before they were torn apart.

At first, the swarm charged ferociously toward them.

But as more and more of their companions were slaughtered, fear gradually spread through the school. They no longer dared approach recklessly.

Still unwilling to give up such rare prey, the venomous fish continued following them from a distance like a living tide of glowing eyes.

Keil watched everything unfold with mounting astonishment.

Not only could Nina’s equipment keep the toxic fish from getting close—it could kill them effortlessly.

Nina’s tools are incredible...

For the first time, he truly began to look forward to seeing the extent of Nina’s abilities.

Perhaps... with her here... they might actually succeed in retrieving the sacred artifact.

Lani and the others were equally exhilarated.

This was the first time they had crossed the poisonous fish zone without suffering a single casualty.

All thanks to Nina.

They continued moving swiftly through the abyss until they arrived at a region so dark it felt almost bottomless.

The venomous fish abruptly stopped chasing them.

As though sensing something terrifying ahead, they scattered and fled back into the depths.

"Nina," Keil said solemnly, "this is where the black whirlpools appear. They emerge without warning, and their suction force is horrifying. You must be extremely careful."

The last time he came here, he had been the only one to pass through alive. The others had either died... or been forced to retreat.

Lani’s expression darkened as well.

"That’s right. Whatever happens, do not get dragged into one."

Last time, he himself had turned back here in defeat.

"Everyone hold position first," Nina said calmly. "Let me scan the area."

Keil and the others immediately stopped moving.

Nina released multiple detection devices into the surrounding waters, scanning the environment around them.

At the same time, she spoke silently to Little Bun in her mind.

"Little Bun, do you detect anything?"

[Host, there are several enormous lifeforms nearby. Aside from that, nothing unusual has been detected so far.]

"Are they beastmen?" Nina asked.

[I can’t confirm without biological samples. But based on the available data... probably not.]

Nina’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"Can you simulate their appearance and pinpoint their locations?"

[I can do that.]

Little Bun immediately generated a simulation of the creatures on the screen and marked their locations.

Nina studied the images carefully.

They were strange black organisms with flattened, rounded bodies, somewhat resembling sea anemones. Their soft forms lay sprawled across the ocean floor, blending almost perfectly into the darkness around them.

A thought instantly surfaced in Nina’s mind.

Could those "whirlpools" actually be created by these creatures?

"Little Bun, use the detectors to track their movements and activate light markers for their positions," Nina instructed. "Also scan for nearby surfaces sturdy enough for the suction anchors to attach to."

[Understood, Host.]

Little Bun immediately carried out her commands.

[The red lights mark the locations of those organisms. The yellow-white lights indicate possible anchor points. However, I can’t accurately determine the strength or stability of those surfaces.]

"Got it," Nina replied.

Soon, glowing red and yellow-white lights flickered throughout the darkness.

Nina counted the red markers.

At present, eight of them had been detected.

Several were spaced far apart, while the more distant markers were barely visible to the naked eye. She could only track them clearly through the system map.

"There are unidentified deep-sea creatures here," Nina warned everyone. "Those whirlpools may be related to them. Stay alert. The red lights mark their locations."

Then she pointed toward the yellow-white markers.

"And those yellow-white lights indicate places where you can attach the suction anchors. If a vortex appears, throw the anchors there immediately."

The merfolk males were shocked. They had sensed absolutely nothing in the surrounding waters, but none of them doubted Nina’s words.

As they stared at the faint red lights ahead, vigilance filled their expressions.

The group continued forward carefully.

They passed the first red marker. Nothing happened.

Then the second. Still nothing.

The third. Again, complete silence.

Nina frowned.

Did I guess wrong?

But she refused to lower her guard.

The moment they approached the fourth red marker, the surrounding currents suddenly trembled.

In the blink of an eye, a terrifying suction force erupted toward them.

A massive black vortex instantly appeared where the red marker had been.

"Ahhh!"

Several merfolk males closest to it did not even have time to react before they were violently dragged toward the vortex.

Nina reacted instantly.

Countless underwater vines burst forth, wrapping around the trapped males before coiling tightly around herself as well.

The males clung desperately to Nina’s vines, terrified to let go.

Meanwhile, the quicker-reacting warriors immediately searched for the yellow-white markers and hurled their suction anchors toward them, desperately preventing themselves from being dragged away.

Nina ordered Little Bun to scan the vortex.

The results confirmed her suspicion. This was not a natural whirlpool at all... It was the creature’s enormous maw.

The terrifying suction force strained the anchors to their limits, cracks beginning to form in the surfaces they clung to.

Nina immediately extended more vines around the others as a precaution.

Although they had not yet been swallowed, the pull was still agonizingly strong—especially for the few males closest to the vortex.

Nina narrowed her eyes and abruptly yanked the trapped males backward with all her strength.

The creature seemed to realize its prey was escaping.

Instantly, the suction intensified even further. The anchor points began fracturing rapidly.

Even Nina could feel herself struggling to hold everyone in place.

She realized immediately—they could not continue like this.

The creature had to die.

"This isn’t a real whirlpool!" Nina shouted. "It’s the creature’s mouth! Attack in that direction!"

The males immediately unleashed attacks toward the creature, but the strikes failed to inflict any real damage. Instead, they only enraged it further.

The suction force became even more violent. Nina swiftly pulled the others farther back and took out a devastating high-powered weapon.

"Stop attacking for now!" she ordered sharply. "Keep your shields activated!"

The males obeyed instantly.

Nina surged toward the creature alone.

Then, at the precise moment its maw widened, she hurled the weapon directly inside.

BOOM!

A violent explosion rocked the seabed. The entire ocean trembled. Moments later, the horrifying suction vanished completely.

Silence returned to the abyss.

Everyone finally released breaths of relief, but before they could fully relax, several more red markers suddenly began rushing rapidly toward them.

The males’ expressions changed dramatically.

Without hesitation, they immediately regrouped around Nina.
