Chapter 14 The Truth We Thought Were True
Chapter 14 The Truth We Thought Were True
Shen Fang sat in her office, night had quietly fallen outside the window, and the entire city was adorned with neon lights, creating a dreamlike scene. Her gaze was calm, even tinged with disdain. She knew that Lin Chuyue was beginning to approach the truth, gradually uncovering all the conspiracies she had orchestrated. And she had long anticipated that Lin Chuyue would feel uneasy about these clues, leading to deeper suspicions. Shen Fang's plan had been prepared long ago; what Lin Chuyue perceived as the "truth" was actually just a carefully crafted trap set by Shen Fang for her.
Shen Fang leaned back in her chair, closed her eyes, and tapped her fingers lightly on the table. She knew Lin Chuyue was hostile towards her, but also very clever. To make her underestimate her true plan, Shen Fang deliberately orchestrated a fake "information," using Zhou Ming's relationship with Lin Chuyue to create the illusion that "Zhou Ming was exposing Shen Fang's crimes out of conscience." Through this strategy, she wanted to arouse Lin Chuyue's suspicion, making her mistakenly believe she was fighting against a bottomless dark force, thus misleading her into a deeper quagmire.
Shen Fang was well aware of Zhou Ming's weaknesses. He was a somewhat impulsive and emotional person who, with Shen Fang's help, had risen from an ordinary employee to become her capable assistant. However, Zhou Ming had a very strong sense of morality, and as some of Shen Fang's actions became increasingly inappropriate, he felt uneasy and conflicted. Shen Fang had noticed this long ago and gradually increased the "pressure" she was putting on him.
After a company executive meeting, Shen Fang deliberately spoke with Zhou Ming alone. She feigned concern and asked, "Assistant Zhou, you seem a little distracted lately. Have you encountered any difficulties at work?"
Zhou Ming forced a smile. "President Shen, I'm fine. I've just been under a lot of work pressure lately."
Shen Fang smiled gently, but there was an extremely shrewd glint in her eyes. "You're a smart person. You know what you can and cannot do. You should have a clear understanding of the company's future and some of our decisions. You know I value you highly. If you have any concerns, just tell me."
Her words, seemingly full of concern, actually concealed her entire plan. Zhou Ming's anxiety and unease were reignited, and Shen Fang skillfully guided these emotions in a specific direction—she didn't directly pressure him, but rather made Zhou Ming feel the pressure himself, believing that if he didn't take action, he might fall into an irreversible situation.
A few days later, Shen Fang secretly instructed her assistant to place some fake documents on Zhou Ming's desk. These documents appeared to be plans regarding the company's future cash flow and international transactions. When Zhou Ming saw these documents, he handed them to Shen Fang without hesitation, but he felt somewhat uneasy. Shen Fang looked at him, a smug smile flashing in her eyes.
Shen Fang knew perfectly well that Zhou Ming couldn't betray her directly. To get him to "inform" her, she deliberately gave him hints, making him believe that if he didn't tell Lin Chuyue this information, he would be dragged into an even deeper mess. Thus, she began to secretly manipulate Zhou Ming, exploiting his inner weaknesses.
On a gloomy, rainy afternoon, Shen Fang approached Zhou Ming. "You know, Lin Chuyue is very wary of me now. She has started collecting evidence about the company's cash flow and secret transactions between shareholders." Her tone was calm, yet full of threat. "If she makes these public, the consequences will be unimaginable."
Zhou Ming shuddered, a look of fear flashing across his face. "What should I do?"
Shen Fang's gaze grew even colder, almost staring directly into his soul. "I've tried my best to conceal this information, but if you feel you can no longer bear to remain silent, then make your own decision. I don't want to force you, but you also know that once these things are leaked, it won't just be the company's future, but you yourself will also find it difficult to escape responsibility."
Shen Fang deliberately emphasized her words, forcing Zhou Ming to feel that he was in a dilemma. Looking at her, Zhou Ming was torn between fear and a sense of responsibility. He gradually realized that if he didn't proactively expose some of Shen Fang's actions, the future risks might be far greater than he could bear. And the information Shen Fang revealed did indeed seem to shock him.
However, he didn't fully realize that it was all part of Shen Fang's elaborate scheme. Instead of directly threatening Zhou Ming, Shen Fang cleverly created the illusion that he was "leaking inside information for Lin Chuyue," making Zhou Ming believe he was acting for justice.
A few days later, Lin Chuyue received a call from Zhou Ming. Without much hesitation, she agreed to meet. She knew that the information Zhou Ming revealed would uncover some important clues. She silently calculated in her mind that everything had reached a critical moment, and Shen Fang's conspiracy might be exposed.
However, Lin Chuyue was unaware that all of this was a trap set by Shen Fang. She had already anticipated that Lin Chuyue would take more drastic actions, and through Zhou Ming's "tattling," she cleverly made Lin Chuyue feel even more confused and nervous.
That evening, after meeting with Zhou Ming, Lin Chuyue overheard some fragmented information about Shen Fang's fund transfers and cross-border transactions. This information was incomplete, but enough to deepen her suspicions. She began to focus all her attention on Shen Fang, ignoring whether the information was accurate or too one-sided.
Lin Chuyue's suspicions deepened. She believed Shen Fang was not merely a shrewd business rival, but a woman with a powerful, dark backing. She even began to suspect Shen Fang's connections to international criminal organizations. Unbeknownst to her, this was all a facade orchestrated by Shen Fang.
Shen Fang stood before the floor-to-ceiling window of her office, gazing at the distant city lights, her eyes cold and resolute. She knew that Lin Chuyue had gradually fallen into her trap. The next step would be her true moment of retaliation.
She deliberately released "false information" about the company, causing Lin Chuyue to begin implementing her extreme plan without fully grasping the evidence. Shen Fang knew that the more Lin Chuyue relied on this information, the more likely she was to make a mistake. Her ultimate goal was not only to expose Lin Chuyue, but also to completely destroy her credibility in the public eye, turning her into an indefensible "revenge victim."
Shen Fang's smile grew deeper and deeper; she knew that she had taken control of this game.
Shen Fang's scheme was finally beginning to show results. Lin Chuyue gradually fell into the trap she had meticulously laid. She thought she had the truth and was preparing to launch a fierce counterattack against Shen Fang, unaware that she had already stepped into an even deeper snare. And this game had only just begun.
