Chapter 84 Revolutionary Friendship
Chapter 84 Revolutionary Friendship
Lin Chuyue stood by the window, sunlight streaming down her profile. Gu Yanchuan stood a short distance away, holding an iced Americano. The two had just returned from a meeting, the atmosphere relaxed yet tinged with lingering tension.
"Shen Fang's matter is temporarily settled, but the next problem is equally thorny." Gu Yanchuan's tone was calm as he glanced at Lin Chuyue. "I cannot fully guess how Lin Zhengguo will deal with it."
Lin Chuyue nodded, then turned to look at Gu Yanchuan: "He probably won't make any rash moves for the time being. But we need to speed things up now and clean up the mess Shen Fang left behind."
Gu Yanchuan looked at her with a hint of appreciation in his eyes: "I have to say, you are indeed different from the Lin Chuyue of the past."
Lin Chuyue smiled faintly: "People always have to learn to grow, especially when they are forced into a desperate situation."
Gu Yanchuan sighed softly and put down his teacup: "Our cooperative relationship can perhaps only be described as 'revolutionary friendship'."
Lin Chuyue raised an eyebrow slightly: "Why are you suddenly so sentimental?"
Gu Yanchuan shrugged: "I never thought we would reach an understanding under these circumstances. Speaking of which, I still owe you a thank you, after all, you're the one who let me see Shen Fang's true colors."
Lin Chuyue smiled and said, "No need to thank me. I just hope you can stand on the right side."
The two exchanged a smile, and a rare sense of ease filled the atmosphere.
After seeing Gu Yanchuan off, Lin Chuyue sat alone in her office, her thoughts drifting away. She reflected on the past few days, and how her shared experiences with Gu Yanchuan had gradually made her realize that their relationship was no longer simply that of an engaged couple.
She didn't have deep feelings for Gu Yanchuan before, only regarding him as a friend she occasionally talked to. But now, the trust and tacit understanding they've built through their collaboration have made her realize that they're more like comrades-in-arms than engaged couples.
At the same time, Lin Chuyue's thoughts turned to another person—Li Zhanchuan. The man who always appeared out of nowhere.
Thinking about her recent interactions with Li Zhanchuan, Lin Chuyue felt a ripple in her heart. That unfamiliar flutter left her feeling bewildered, yet impossible to ignore.
"Lin Chuyue, are you a little crazy?" she muttered to herself, shaking her head and refocusing her attention on the work at hand.
Later that evening, just as Lin Chuyue was about to leave work, there was a knock on her office door.
"Come in." She looked up and saw Li Zhanchuan walk in. He was wearing a black suit, his expression indifferent, yet he exuded his usual powerful aura.
"Miss Lin." Li Zhanchuan walked straight up to her and placed a document on the table. "You should be interested in the results of this investigation."
Lin Chuyue took the document, quickly glanced through its contents, and her gaze suddenly became profound: "Is this the final destination of Shen Fang's funds?"
Li Zhanchuan nodded, his voice low but firm: "This clue is enough to leave her with absolutely no way out."
Lin Chuyue looked up at him, a hint of gratitude in her eyes: "Thank you, President Li. Without your help, this battle probably wouldn't have gone so smoothly."
Li Zhanchuan smiled slightly, his tone somewhat playful: "Miss Lin is getting better and better at expressing her gratitude."
Lin Chuyue chuckled lightly: "President Li, shouldn't you try a different way of mocking me?"
The two stared at each other for a moment, a subtle atmosphere filling the air. Li Zhanchuan didn't say much, only calmly stating, "If you need my help, please contact me anytime."
He turned and left, leaving behind a quiet space.
As Lin Chuyue watched his retreating figure, the flutter in her heart surged up again—perhaps, she really couldn't ignore the slight attraction she felt for Li Zhanchuan.
