Chapter 122 Internal Crisis
Chapter 122 Internal Crisis
The atmosphere in Lin Chuyue's office was unusually tense early in the morning. Li Gang stood in front of her desk, the documents in his hand almost glaringly obvious.
“President Lin, this is last month’s financial audit report. We discovered irregularities in the flow of funds for several projects, especially the newly launched ‘Starry Sky Technology’ project, where some aspects of the accounts are inconsistent.” Li Gang frowned, his tone cautious.
Lin Chuyue took the document and quickly began to peruse it. The funding issues mentioned in the report clearly showed signs of deliberate concealment, and her eyes gradually turned cold: "Who is fully responsible for the 'Starry Sky Technology' project?"
Li Gang replied in a low voice, "The project manager is Wang Peng."
Upon hearing this name, Lin Chuyue frowned slightly. Wang Peng was one of Shen Fang's confidants, and this funding issue was indeed inseparable from Shen Fang's scheme.
"Contact Wang Peng and have him come to see me." Her voice was calm yet authoritative.
Around noon, Wang Peng stood at the door of Lin Chuyue's office, visibly nervous. He pushed the door open and saw Lin Chuyue's gaze, sharp as a knife, pausing involuntarily.
"Mr. Lin, you wanted to see me?" Wang Peng asked cautiously.
Lin Chuyue slammed the documents in her hand onto the table, her voice devoid of any emotion: "Take a look at these accounts yourself and tell me what's going on."
Wang Peng glanced down, cold sweat beading on his forehead: "President Lin, these accounts are a matter for the finance department. I'm only responsible for project progress; the specific flow of funds..."
"Enough!" Lin Chuyue interrupted him, her tone icy. "Wang Peng, I'm giving you one last chance. If you have anything to say, say it now. Otherwise, I will hand this matter over to the board of directors for review."
Wang Peng was clearly stunned by these words. He lowered his head and pondered for a long time before speaking with difficulty: "President Lin, actually... Shen Fang made me embezzle these funds. She forced me to do it, and I really had no choice."
Lin Chuyue's gaze sharpened. She had already suspected Shen Fang was involved, but Wang Peng's confession still shocked her. Leaning back in her chair, her voice was calm yet authoritative: "Shen Fang forced you? Have you ever considered that she might just be using you?"
Wang Peng lowered his head, not daring to look at her, his tone full of helplessness: "President Lin, I admit I was wrong, but I was forced into it. If you are willing to give me a chance, I can help you uncover more of her schemes."
Lin Chuyue narrowed her eyes, staring at Wang Peng's expression for a moment, before slowly speaking: "Fine, then I'll give you one chance. From now on, you're on my side. If I find out you're still lying..."
Wang Peng nodded quickly: "President Lin, I will definitely listen to you."
That evening, Lin Chuyue shared her discovery with Gu Yanchuan. The two sat in Gu Yanchuan's study, the atmosphere slightly heavy.
"Shen Fang's reach extends further than I imagined. She not only manipulates the company's projects, but also uses mid-level personnel like Wang Peng to cover up her actions," Lin Chuyue said coldly.
Gu Yanchuan nodded slightly, his expression calm yet meaningful: "She has more resources than just these. This period of vacation and rest is probably just a delaying tactic."
“So, I need you to help me control her network of connections,” Lin Chuyue said bluntly. “Especially with President Zhao, Shen Fang is very close to him.”
Gu Yanchuan raised an eyebrow, a slight smile playing on his lips: "You certainly know how to order people around. However, I don't mind lending you a hand."
Lin Chuyue rolled her eyes at him: "President Gu, we're 'comrades-in-arms' now, helping me is helping yourself."
Gu Yanchuan chuckled: "Alright, 'comrade-in-arms', but there's a condition."
Lin Chuyue looked at him warily: "What are the conditions?"
“After this is all over, we need to publicly announce the annulment of the engagement. I’ve played this marriage charade long enough.” Gu Yanchuan’s tone was calm, but his eyes held a deeper meaning.
Lin Chuyue was taken aback, then nodded: "Okay, I promise you."
