Chapter 35 Problem
Chapter 35 Problem
Shi An watched as Chu Ci easily drove away the group of bullies, his eyes gleaming with admiration.
His admiration for his wife grew even stronger. "My wife, you are so amazing."
"Ah."
Chu Ci raised her hand and gently rubbed Shi An's head. The man's hair was soft and smooth, with an excellent feel.
She couldn't help but touch it for a few more seconds, and her mood improved considerably.
However, she was too happy too soon.
An entire morning passed, and not a single person came to buy her meat.
Worse still, many people quickened their pace and kept their distance after seeing her, as if they were afraid of being implicated.
Witnessing all this, Shi An felt indignant: "These people are too much! My wife used to give them a discount because they were poor, and now they repay kindness with enmity!"
Chu Ci smiled slightly, waved his hand gently, and comforted them, "Don't be angry. They are just ordinary people and have no ability to fight against the Black Snake Gang, so it is understandable that they choose to protect themselves."
Shi An pouted angrily and muttered, "I just hate them."
Chu Ci couldn't help but laugh at his adorable appearance and teased, "Okay, as long as you don't hate me."
"I don't hate the wife at all, I am..." Shi An didn't finish the sentence, her cheeks flushed pink, like a ripe lychee.
Chu Ci glanced at him, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes: "What is it?"
Shi An felt a pang of anxiety when she saw that look in her eyes. She quickly shook her head and stammered, "N-nothing..."
He doesn't dare tell Chu Ci that he likes her; it's too embarrassing.
Chu Ci looked at Shi An's appearance and couldn't help but find it amusing. He didn't press further but instead looked up at the sky.
It was past noon, the sun was shining brightly, and the weather was warm and pleasant.
Chu Ci thought to herself, since nothing is selling, why not take this opportunity to take Shi An out for a walk and solve the lunch problem? "Let's go have lunch."
Upon hearing this, Shi An's eyes lit up, and he immediately nodded excitedly.
The two arrived at a small restaurant, and Chu Ci ordered two bowls of wontons.
When the boss asked if she wanted cilantro, Shi An remembered that Chu Ci had said she didn't like cilantro, so she quickly shook her head and said, "No cilantro."
The boss smiled and nodded, then turned and went into the kitchen to get busy.
Soon, two steaming bowls of wontons were served, their aroma filling the air.
Shi An carefully pushed one of the bowls in front of Chu Ci and smiled gently, "My lady, here you go."
Chu Ci took the bowl and began to taste it.
While eating his wontons, Shi An secretly observed Chu Ci's reaction to see if she liked the restaurant.
After lunch, Chu Ci paid the bill and left the small restaurant with her husband.
They strolled along the street, enjoying the afternoon sun and breeze.
As they walked, Chu Ci suddenly stopped. "Let's go buy some food."
Shi An nodded and followed Chu Ci into a rice shop.
The shop owner, Chen Ting, greeted Chu Ci warmly: "Miss Chu, what would you like to buy today?"
Chu Ci smiled and replied, "The food at home is almost gone, let's buy some more."
Chen Ting skillfully took various grains from the shelf, weighed them on the scale, and then quoted the price.
Chu Ci selected a total of 100 jin of rice, 50 jin of millet, and 50 jin of flour.
Chen Ting quickly packed the grain and handed it to Chu Ci.
Chu Ci paid the money readily, then turned to Shi An and said, "You stay here and help Manager Chen check the goods. I'm going out to take care of something."
A sense of foreboding suddenly rose in Shi An's heart, and he asked nervously, "What is it?"
Seeing Chu Ci begin to hesitate again, he immediately grabbed Chu Ci's sleeve and said anxiously, "What is it? If you don't tell me, I won't let you leave here."
Chen Ting sat behind the counter watching the young couple's tug-of-war, a relieved smile on her face.
She secretly wondered when her daughter would find a suitable husband to bring home.
Chu Ci had promised not to lie again, so she told Shi An the truth: "I'm going to the Black Snake Gang."
"What?!" Shi An was furious upon hearing this. His eyes widened as he angrily questioned Chu Ci, "How could you do something so dangerous?"
Chu Ci scratched his head, unsure how to explain to Shi An, "Because there's no business today, we can't just sit here and wait to die."
"But you can't go on an adventure alone!"
Chu Ci smiled, then coughed lightly twice: "None of my friends are good at fighting either," she said, her tone tinged with helplessness and self-deprecation.
“Then…” Shi An opened his mouth, but found himself speechless and unable to refute.
Indeed, among Chu Ci's friends, there didn't seem to be any particularly powerful fighters.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine," Chu Ci said gently, looking at Shi An and trying to reassure him.
However, Shi An shook his head vigorously, indicating his disagreement.
"No! What will I do if something happens to you?" Shi An held Chu Ci's hand tightly, her eyes filled with worry and fear.
He couldn't imagine how he would live if something happened to Chu Ci.
Chu Ci gently stroked Shi An's hair, comforting her, "Do you believe me? Are they really more powerful than Black Panther?"
Shi An remained silent for a moment, still filled with unease.
Although he knew that Chu Ci's strength was not to be underestimated, he still could not completely eliminate the fear in his heart.
"..." Shi An's lips trembled slightly, but she couldn't say anything more.
His body trembled involuntarily, as if enveloped by an invisible force.
"My lady~ I'm so scared, please don't leave, okay? Please," Shi An's voice was choked with sobs as he held Chu Ci tightly, unwilling to let go.
Chu Ci sensed that Shi An was unusually agitated, and with a pang of heartache, she embraced him tightly, gently stroking his back in an attempt to soothe him.
"Don't be afraid, everything will be alright," Chu Ci said softly, hoping to bring some comfort to Shi An.
"Something's wrong! I absolutely won't let you go!!" Shi An's emotions became increasingly agitated. He started to act spoiled, holding Chu Ci tightly and refusing to let go.
"Can't you think about me? I'm already pitiful enough..." Shi An's tears welled up in his eyes as he expressed his dependence on and reluctance to part with Chu Ci in a coquettish way.
Chen Ting couldn't help but glance at them; she simply couldn't bear to look at the scene directly.
What kind of behavior is it to be hugging and cuddling in broad daylight?
Chu Ci felt Chen Ting's gaze and felt a little embarrassed.
Before long, several more guests came in.
Upon seeing the two people embracing tightly in the room, they couldn't help but start pointing and whispering.
Chen Ting quickly raised her hand to signal Chu Ci to find a way to resolve the situation.
