Chapter 34 Blacksmith
Yun Dan was taking a nap in her room in the afternoon when Xiao Yue pulled her up, saying that she wanted to go to the county town to play.
Yun Dan didn't want to go, but she couldn't resist Xiao Yue's persistent pleading, so she got up and followed her out the door.
The three arrived in the county town and saw a cloth shop, so they went inside.
The shop was filled with a dazzling array of fabrics. Xiaoyue and Yang Hualing excitedly selected their items, while Yundan seemed somewhat distracted.
"Yun Dan, what do you think of this piece of fabric?" Xiao Yue asked, holding up a piece of blue fabric.
Yun Dan looked at it and said, "Hmm, not bad, right?"
"What do you mean 'not bad'? You're being too perfunctory!" Xiaoyue said, dissatisfied.
"I don't know much about these things either, you guys choose what you like," Yun Dan said.
“That won’t do. Since you’re here, you should also choose something you can wear,” Yang Hualing said.
"Alright, let's take a look together," Yun Dan said.
But in her heart she was thinking: since we're already here, we might as well buy a few more larger ones and put them in our space later.
Yun Dan smiled helplessly and had no choice but to join them in making their selections.
In the end, Xiaoyue and Yang Hualing both chose clothes that they could wear.
"Shopkeeper, how much is this dress?" Xiaoyue asked.
The proprietress looked at the clothes and said, "This fabric is top-quality silk, and it's quite expensive. It will cost ten taels of silver."
"Ten taels of silver? That's so expensive!" Xiaoyue exclaimed.
"Yes, this is already the cheapest price," the proprietress said.
"Let's look at the others then," Xiaoyue said.
"Okay, take your time looking around," the proprietress said.
Xiaoyue looked at the other fabrics and thought they were all very nice.
"Little girl, what do you think of the fabric of this dress?" Xiaoyue asked.
"I think it's alright," Yun Dan said.
"Shopkeeper, how much is this one?" Yang Hualing asked.
The proprietress saw them pointing at that item and said, "This one costs four taels of silver."
“Sister Yang, you’ll look really good in this dress,” Xiaoyue said.
"I don't need it, I have clothes at home," Yang Hualing said.
Yun Dan smiled and said, "Go ahead and buy them. I just remembered something. Let's each buy two sets. You choose, and I'll pay."
In the end, Yang Hualing only took a light blue dress, which was something that was rarely worn in Sujia Village anyway.
Yun Dan also chose three slightly larger outfits for Xiao Yue, one black and one pink.
There was another one for her mother.
Yun Dan herself took ten sets of tight-fitting clothes, five of which she wore herself, ranging from 1.5 meters to 1.7 meters tall.
There are five more items: one for her grandmother, one for her aunt, and one for her mother.
"Shopkeeper, how much is it?"
Ready-made clothes are quite expensive; even ordinary cloth clothes cost several hundred coins, let alone those from cloth shops in the county town.
The proprietress looked at the items and calculated as she went.
"The total for the three of you is forty-one taels of silver."
Yun Dan handed the money directly to the female shopkeeper: "Thank you, boss lady."
"You're welcome, it's what I should do," the proprietress replied.
The three of them each carried a package on their backs as they left the cloth shop.
As the three walked, Yun Dan heard the sound of blacksmithing and led the other two over.
I saw a guy shirtless, all muscle, covered in sweat, like a giant monkey, and I'd estimate he was over 1.8 meters tall.
When the three of them reached the blacksmith's shop, the blacksmith seemed to notice them, stopped what he was doing, and turned around.
He saw three women standing in front of him: one mature and composed, and two still quite young.
"Three young ladies, may I ask what brings you here?" the blacksmith asked.
Yun Dan never expected that this rugged, tough-looking man would have such a gentle and pleasant voice.
She was taken aback for a moment before she came to her senses and said, "Master blacksmith, I'm sorry to bother you. This piece of iron you're forging looks like it's going to be made into a sword, right?"
"Haha, little girl, you have a good eye!" the blacksmith laughed heartily.
"Master, since you know how to use a sword, you should also have weapons for sale here, right?"
The blacksmith was slightly taken aback. He hadn't expected a little girl to be interested in weapons, and even to know so much about them.

"Of course, please follow me." The blacksmith led them into the shop and then into the inner courtyard.
Yun Dan and the other two saw various weapons displayed in the inner courtyard, including short swords, long swords, spears, knives, large iron hammers, throwing knives, and several whips hanging on the wall.
Yun Dan's gaze was drawn to a precious sword, and she stepped forward to examine it closely.
The hilt of this sword is inlaid with a jade stone, about 20 centimeters long, and the blade is about 80 centimeters long. When you pick it up and stab it, the blade reveals a cold light that seems to shimmer.
"Master, how much does this sword cost?" Yun Dan asked.
Looking at the sword in Yun Dan's hand, although it was the culmination of his masterpiece, it was still quite remarkable.
"Although this sword is my most prized work, its materials and craftsmanship are top-notch, so its price will be higher, requiring thirty-five taels of silver."
Yun Dan was secretly surprised. So expensive? She looked at the blacksmith and thought to herself, this sword is indeed quite good.

The blacksmith nodded and went back into the house to get the box.
Yun Dan looked at Yang Hualing in surprise, wondering how she knew the weapons needed to be packaged.
Yang Hualing knew what Yun Dan was thinking, but she wasn't going to explain anything.
After the blacksmith finished dressing, Yang Hualing had Xiaoyue carry the package, and then Yang Hualing picked up the box and carried it on her back.
When they first left, the three of them had nothing, but now they are all carrying a full load of books.
Back at the restaurant, the adults were drinking tea and chatting in the lobby. When they saw Yun Dan and the other two return with so many things on their backs, they helped them carry them upstairs to their rooms.
The day passed just like that, little did they know that they hadn't gone home that day, and the villagers worried all night long, with none of the adults able to sleep.
They, however, were enjoying a sumptuous meal in the restaurant, chatting and laughing amidst the wind and rain, each of them thoroughly satisfied.
After they've eaten and washed up, they all need to go to bed early tonight so they can get up early to go home tomorrow.
