Chapter 424 Counterattack

Chapter 424 Counterattack

“Listen, my little stars,” she cradled the two children’s tear-streaked faces, “you have ancient blood flowing in your veins, which makes you unique. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Now, I need you to be brave, okay?”

Maxi suddenly stood up straight, like a real soldier.

"I will protect Lila." His childish voice carried a firmness that didn't belong to a seven-year-old.

A loud bang came from the doorway, and the agents began to break it down.

Arya took one last look at the two children before pushing them into the maintenance tunnel.

"Run! Don't look back!"

As the passageway cover closed again, Aria turned to face the door, her hands gripping the laser scalpel tightly.

Smoke began to rise from the door frame; the high-temperature cutter was breaching her first line of defense.

“Come on, you royal lackeys,” she whispered, the engineer’s mind calmly calculating each move.

Six years on the run taught her one thing: on the edge of space, survival is the only law.

The moment the door was blown open, Aria activated the entire house's defense system.

The pre-placed smoke bombs detonated simultaneously, instantly filling the entire apartment with opaque gray smoke.

Her goggles automatically switched to thermal imaging mode, and she saw three agents storming into the living room in tactical formation.

The first agent stepped on the pressure plate, and the automatic crossbow on the ceiling immediately fired.

The agent screamed as a crossbow bolt pierced his thigh.

Arya didn't linger; she slid like a ghost toward the kitchen, where she had set her second trap.

"Heat source scan failed!" an agent shouted. "This godforsaken place is full of interference!"

A cold smile curled at the corner of Aria's lips.

She knows the Royal Guard’s standard equipment all too well; all the modifications over the years have been for this moment.

The second agent triggered a sonic mine at the kitchen door and immediately knelt down, clutching his head.

But the third agent was clearly more experienced.

He fired a broad-spectrum scanning projectile directly at the ceiling. The pulse wave from the explosion instantly cleared the smoke and disabled most of her electronic traps.

“Aria Kos,” the intelligence chief pointed his gun at her chest, “surrender. Those two children are royal property; you have no right to them—”

Arya didn't let him finish speaking.

She threw the laser dagger in her left hand, hitting the agent leader's phase gun precisely.

The weapon melted under the high temperature, and she rushed towards the bedroom.

She needs to distract them and buy the children more time.

Five agents gave chase.

Arya triggered the final trap as soon as she slid into the bedroom—an entire wall exploded outwards, revealing a rusty fire escape ladder.

But as she rushed toward the gap, a sharp pain suddenly came from her right shoulder.

A tranquilizer dart pierced deep into the muscle, and the neurotoxin spread rapidly.

She staggered and almost fell out of the window.

Through her blurry vision, she saw the leader of the secret service slowly approaching, holding a second gun.

“How long do you think you can hide?” the agent sneered. “Every interstellar port’s surveillance system is equipped with genetic identification programs. You think you’ve hidden well? For the past six years, we’ve never given up searching for those two bastards.”

Arya's right hand had lost all feeling, but she gripped the window frame tightly with her left hand.

“They are not bastards,” she gasped, “they are children of royal blood!”

The agent's expression suddenly turned ferocious.

“That’s why they must disappear.” He raised his gun. “The Princess Consort will absolutely not allow the Second Prince’s illegitimate son to threaten her position.”

"Princess?"

Aria suddenly remembered the news she had just seen, and her heart was filled with bitterness.

“That’s right, Miss Ster is destined to become a princess, so how can you exist? Therefore, disappearance is your best fate.” The agent said, preparing to pull the trigger.

The moment he pulled the trigger, the entire room was suddenly filled with a blinding blue light.

The leader of the secret service was sent flying as if struck by an invisible hand, crashing heavily into the wall.

Other agents also collapsed to the ground, clutching their heads in pain.

A small figure stood at the doorway, arms outstretched, eyes gleaming with an astonishing light.

"Don't hurt my mother!" Maxi's voice carried a power that didn't belong to a child.

The air was thick with the smell of ozone, and all the electronic devices were crackling and popping.

Arya stared at her son in shock.

This is an ability far beyond that of ordinary royal bloodlines; it's more like—the legendary awakening of the Force.

But a seven-year-old child simply cannot control such powerful energy.

“Maxie, stop!” She struggled to stand up, but the poison had already spread throughout her body.

The air around the boy began to distort, and the metal parts on the wall began to crumble.

Just then, Lila ran out from behind Maxi and grabbed her brother's arm tightly with her little hands.

“Maxie, stop! Mommy will get hurt!” The little girl’s eyes also shone with a blue light, but it was even gentler.

Surprisingly, Maxi's energy field did begin to weaken.

Lila seems to be able to calm her brother's rampage in some way.

The light of the two children intertwined and gradually stabilized.

Before Aria could even catch her breath, the leader of the secret service had already stood up unsteadily.

His nose was bleeding, but he still pointed his weapon at the children.

“For the mission,” he said hoarsely, “you must die!”

Arya reached out in despair, but was powerless to stop it.

At this critical moment, a red laser beam suddenly pierced through the chest of the intelligence leader.

He looked down in disbelief at the charred hole in his chest, then collapsed to the ground.

Other agents were also taken down by precise laser shots.

A tall figure walked in through the broken door, holding an old-fashioned but clearly well-modified laser rifle.

“Hawk!” Arya recognized the only old friend on Ash Star who knew her secret.

The former mercenary, his face covered in scars, strode over and examined her injuries.

“The toxin is spreading too quickly; you need professional medical care,” he said succinctly, then looked at the two children. “Hmph, you’re not even as good as two children.”

Aria nodded with a wry smile.

Hawke was the only one who knew about the children's origins, but she never described their abilities in detail.

Now, the secret has been completely exposed.

“The basement passage?” she asked with difficulty.

“It’s cleared, but more reinforcements are on their way.” Hawke injected her with a universal antidote. “We have to leave Ashes immediately.”

The antidote brought a brief period of clarity that allowed Arya to stand up.

She held the two children tightly, feeling their tiny bodies still trembling from using their abilities.

“You shouldn’t have come back!” she said, kissing their hair.
