Chapter 271 Bao Ying's Friend, Mr. Huo's Child
Chapter 271 Bao Ying's Friend, Mr. Huo's Child
On the way back, everyone boarded a ship.
After leaving the island, the signal improved slightly, and Wen Aixiu started watching her favorite anime on her large-screen iPad.
He wasn't paying much attention and unconsciously turned his gaze towards Ning Yao.
He finally had some time with his mother, but being a little man, he was shy and embarrassed to show too much dependence.
Ning Yao didn't realize Wen Aixiu's thoughts, assuming he wanted to watch cartoons. She instructed the ship's cook to make desserts for the children so they could eat and watch at the same time without missing a beat.
Ning Yao rarely asked Ai Xiu about his schoolwork, as she had great confidence in her son's intelligence.
There's nothing he can't learn if he doesn't want to learn it.
Wen Tingye was playing chess with Ning Chen at a table on the deck of the ship. The father and son looked quite different, yet there was an eerie harmony between them.
Ning Moran chatted with Bao Ying on the side. Bao Ying liked this gentle and humble older brother very much and kept pestering him to talk.
Ning Moran didn't know how to treat Bao Ying. At first, she was a little awkward, but then she thought, "Just treat her like a child."
"Wanwan called!" Wen Baoying's bright, doe-like eyes sparkled with joy.
Wen Baoying ran to her mother, answered the phone, and then formally introduced Ning Yao to her.
"Mommy, this is Huo Wanwan, my best friend at school!"
"Wanwan, this is my mommy, the one I always tell you about, my most beloved and beautiful mommy!"
Ning Yao paused when she heard the surname Huo, then concealed the surprise in her eyes and waved to the girl on the other side of the children's watch screen with a smile.
Huo Wanwan is an introverted person. She is always a little shy when she meets strangers and doesn't dare to speak.
But because of Wen Baoying's enthusiasm, she gradually relaxed a little and cautiously greeted, "Hello, Auntie."
The little girl on the screen stared at Ning Yao with innocent eyes, curiously observing her.
After meeting Huo Wanwan, Ning Yao was almost certain of her identity. She was Huo Zhijing's only daughter, the poor little girl who had been poisoned and whom Ning Yao had met in first class on her way to Y country.
How could she happen to be classmates with her own daughter?
A moment of doubt flashed through Ning Yao's mind.
"My mom planned this birthday party, and it was so much fun! I found over a dozen boxes of Barbie dolls on the island, all limited editions, including your favorite Blue Ocean Princess. I'll give them to you when we go back to school!" Wen Baoying said to Huo Wanwan with a smile.
"No need, that's your birthday present, how could I accept it? Dad will buy it for me." Huo Wanwan was a little shy and subconsciously refused Wen Baoying's kindness.
"Good friends should share gifts. I have more than a dozen, and besides, you can't buy that Blue Ocean Princess, can you?"
"Mommy, can I give this to Wanwan?"
As she spoke, Wen Baoying turned her head and glanced at her mother.
Actually, she didn't want to give away the birthday present her mother gave her, but the Blue Ocean Princess was Huo Wanwan's favorite.
It was a gift from her mother before she passed away. She had one before, but somehow she lost it.
"Mom has already given you the gift. Baoying can handle her own things. If you want to give them to friends, you can. It's okay."
Ning Yao certainly didn't mind; even a six-year-old child should have the right to control their own belongings.
"Great! I'm on my way back now, and we'll see each other soon!" Wen Baoying exclaimed excitedly.
She had many classmates, but Huo Wanwan was the only one she got along with best.
Wen Baoying found the others uninteresting; they all fawned over her and didn't seem to want to be her friends at all.
They kept bringing up their parents' businesses and such. Wen Baoying wasn't stupid; she was very smart. She naturally knew what these so-called classmates who wanted to be her friends were up to when they approached her.
Moreover, she could see the emotions of these people, most of which were not likable gray, and more than half of them even disliked her.
In contrast, Huo Wanwan was on equal footing with her and never sought any benefit from her.
Wen Baoying noticed that Huo Wanwan's heart was flushed pink when she met her, which meant that Huo Wanwan liked her and had no ill intentions.
"I've prepared your birthday present. I'll give it to you when I get back to school. I hope you like it." Huo Wanwan spoke politely and well-behavedly, and it was easy to see that she had a good upbringing.
"Wow, I'm sure I'll like it! Okay, that'll be it for now. I'll contact you when I get back. Bye, Wanwan!"
Goodbye, Bao Ying.
The two little girls talked for a while, then quickly hung up.
Wen Baoying was very excited, clearly longing to return to school.
She used to dislike going to class, just like her brother, and thought that studying at school was boring.
Although she is not as smart as her brother, Bao Ying is still considered one of the best students among children of the same age.
Now that she has friends, Wen Baoying is even starting to look forward to going to school.
"Baoying, when did Huo Wanwan become your friend?" Ning Yao asked with a smile as she picked up her daughter.
Her gentle and slow tone subtly lowered the children's guard.
“At the beginning of last semester, Wanwan got sick and didn’t go to school. Her father asked for leave for her.”
Thinking about this, Wen Baoying still felt somewhat unhappy, worried, and lonely.
Ning Yao raised her hand and ruffled her daughter's hair. It was very soft and black; the child's essence was clean and pure.
If what Wen Baoying said is true, and the children knew each other at the beginning of the last semester, then it wasn't Huo Zhijing's intentional arrangement.
At that time, Huo Zhijing probably didn't even know who she was, but the possibility of a relationship between Huo Zhijing and Wen Tingye cannot be ruled out.
Merchants are always successful and will not do business at a loss; children are not tools that cannot be used.
Ning Yao doesn't care what others do, but her children must never be exploited or deceived, especially the sincere and pure friendships formed during their childhood.
"Mommy, don't you like Wanwan?" Wen Baoying read Ning Yao's emotions and noticed that a cherry-red pattern was faintly appearing on Ning Yao's heart, which quickly disappeared.
Red represents anger. Why did Mommy become angry after hearing about Huo Wanwan's situation?
"How could Mommy not like Bao Ying's best friend?"
Ning Yao realized that she had revealed her emotions, so she secretly restrained herself and no longer showed them in front of the child.
She gave Wen Baoying a loud kiss on the cheek, pressed her forehead against Baoying's, and smiled at her.
Bao Ying chuckled twice, not taking Ning Yao's words to heart. Even the smartest child is still just a child, and they forget things easily.
After calming Wen Baoying down, Ning Yao quietly sat down next to Wen Tingye.
Ning Chen was so focused on playing chess with Wen Tingye that he didn't even notice that there was another person next to his opponent.
Wen Tingye, on the other hand, was completely at ease. Ever since Ning Yao came to his side, his mind was no longer on the chessboard.
Ning Yao wasn't very good at chess. Looking at the intricate moves on the chessboard, she couldn't tell how long it would take to finish.
"Want to learn chess?" Wen Tingye raised an eyebrow.
Ning Yao shook her head; of course, she wasn't there to learn how to play chess.
"Oh, if you're not learning chess, then you must be missing me." A knowing look flashed in Wen Tingye's eyes. Ignoring his son who was still sitting opposite him, he lazily stretched out his arm and rolled it around to his side.
Ning Yao didn't expect Wen Tingye to make this move, and she instantly lost her balance, almost falling into Wen Tingye's arms.
Her long, black hair cascaded down Ning Yao's shoulders. Her shoulder line tensed for a moment, and the air was filled with a faint fragrance of her hair as she moved.
