Chapter 510 Blind Box Pastries, His Thoughts
Chapter 510 Blind Box Pastries, His Thoughts
The two kissed for a while, but Ning Yao couldn't breathe and pulled away from Wen Tingye.
Wen Tingye held the young woman tightly around the waist, worried that her legs would give way and she wouldn't be able to stand steadily.
"I'll leave Zhuangzhuang with you for a week, and I'll pick it up when I get back."
“I thought you would abandon it at a pet store.” Ning Yao smiled, thinking that Wen Tingye was relatively lenient with Zhuangzhuang.
“I’m thinking of that, but Zhuangzhuang’s situation is a bit complicated. I plan to take him to the vet for a check-up after I return to China,” Wen Tingye said in a deep voice, seemingly reminded by Ning Yao’s words.
"What's wrong with Zhuangzhuang?" Ning Yao asked nervously, looking at Zhuangzhuang who had an innocent cat-like face.
Seemingly sensing that its owner was watching it, Zhuangzhuang opened its mouth and meowed softly, its babyish voice making people feel sorry for it.
"You do not know?"
"Which pet store did you buy this cat from?" Wen Tingye suddenly lowered his voice, making it eight octaves lower than before.
Ning Yao looked up at Wen Tingye from his embrace and found that his brows were tightly furrowed, and he looked unhappy.
“It’s a purebred Persian cat. I bought it from a pet store in Yuhua Mall, so there shouldn’t be any problems,” Ning Yao explained.
“There’s a big problem with this cat. If you didn’t know that when you bought it, then you were scammed,” Wen Tingye said.
"Huh?" Ning Yao looked puzzled, having completely forgotten the embarrassment she felt from kissing Wen Tingye earlier.
"Come with me and take a look." Wen Tingye said, taking Ning Yao's hand and leading her to the cage where Zhuangzhuang was kept.
"Look at it carefully and see if you can find anything wrong."
Ning Yao squatted down beside the cage as instructed and carefully examined Zhuangzhuang.
Ning Yao examined the kitten from head to toe, more thoroughly than a machine scan, but still couldn't find anything wrong with Zhuangzhuang.
"Isn't it perfectly healthy? It's in good spirits, it barks and moves around a lot, and it doesn't seem to be in any discomfort," Ning Yao said suspiciously.
She genuinely couldn't see anything wrong with Zhuangzhuang. What exactly did Wen Tingye notice about it?
"You really can't tell?" Wen Tingye frowned and looked at Ning Yao, realizing that she was answering him seriously, without any hint of teasing.
"Look at its paws," Wen Tingye reminded him again, this time specifying the cat's body parts.
Ning Yao stared at Zhuangzhuang's feet for a long while, following the direction Wen Tingye's slender finger pointed.
Zhuangzhuang rolled over in the cage, revealing its soft, pink paw pads, so cute it made you want to scream.
"I still can't figure it out. Stop keeping me in suspense and just tell me."
"Didn't you notice it's disabled?" Wen Tingye raised one eyebrow and said seriously.
He wasn't disgusted by Zhuangzhuang's disability; he was just unhappy that his girlfriend had been tricked into buying a disabled cat without even knowing it.
"After I send you to school, I will arrange for He Yu to go there and cancel the pet shop's business license."
"Wait, Tingye, you said Zhuangzhuang is disabled. Can you tell me exactly where? Where on his foot?" Ning Yao didn't think there was anything wrong with Zhuangzhuang, but Wen Tingye's tone was very certain.
"Look at its front paw." Wen Tingye stepped forward, opened the cage, took out the kitten, placed it in his palm, and pinched one of the kitten's front paws with his fingers. A soft, cuddly paw was presented to the two of them.
"It has five toes on its front paws, but only four on its hind paws. Isn't that a disability?"
"..."
Ning Yao finally understood why Wen Tingye thought Zhuangzhuang was a disabled cat.
To avoid hurting Wen Tingye's pride, Ning Yao chose to speak in a very gentle tone.
“Tingye, every cat has five toes on its front paws and four toes on its hind paws.”
"Well, it's normal that you don't know these things. Even people who have owned cats might not be aware of this."
However, others simply didn't notice, and even if they did see it, they wouldn't think there was anything wrong with it. Only Wen Tingye thought it was a disability.
Ning Yao really wanted to laugh, but she held it in and didn't laugh out loud to avoid making Wen Tingye feel even more embarrassed.
"Oh?" Wen Tingye not only didn't feel embarrassed, but instead played with the cat lying in his palm with great interest.
"Cats don't actually like to eat fish," Ning Yao casually added.
She noticed that the first layer of the food box Wen Tingye prepared for Zhuangzhuang was freeze-dried cat food shaped like dried fish.
"Would you like me to give you a lesson on the most basic common sense?" Ning Yao leaned closer to Wen Tingye, her eyes crinkling into two crescent moons with laughter.
"No need, I've already asked He Yu to buy me all the books about cats."
Making such a basic mistake once in front of Ning Yao is acceptable, but it must never happen a second time.
One time could be considered a cute contrast, but if it happens too often, it becomes stupidity and ignorance. Where would that leave his face?
Wen Tingye, who had already read through university-level physics courses in elementary school, could never have imagined that he would feel so ashamed today.
Later, Wen Tingye saw Ning Yao off to her car and didn't say a word until he took her to school. His expression was cold and indifferent.
Cui Mengmeng and Xin Yujue sat in the back seat of the car, both looking terrified. They had no idea why Wen Tingye was acting this way, and they felt that their presence had become a shining third wheel between President Wen and Ning Yao. The urge to get out of the car grew stronger and stronger.
The process of returning to school was extremely difficult, and they experienced immense hardship.
Wen Tingye dropped Ning Yao off at school and then arranged for several of his bodyguards to stay behind and help her move the things from the trunk of her car.
Wen Tingye pulled Ning Yao close, placed a kiss on her forehead, and finally raised his hand to ruffle the young woman's soft, fluffy hair.
"I am leaving."
"Okay, be careful, contact me when you get back." Ning Yao's eyes reddened slightly, experiencing the kind of reluctance that only lovers feel when they part.
She used to feel somewhat uncomfortable because she thought Wen Tingye only contacted her to do *that* kind of thing.
But now she realizes something...
When love runs deep and feelings run intense, these things become uncontrollable. It's not something done intentionally, but rather because it's out of control.
We feel reluctant to part, we miss each other, and we long for each other because we have each other in our hearts and we care about each other.
After watching Wen Tingye walk away, Ning Yao put her mind at ease.
Cui Mengmeng and Xin Yujue did not leave immediately, and Ning Chen also stood aside. At this moment, the three of them stared at the contents of the car trunk like curious children, without blinking.
"Yaoyao, what did President Wen give you? It's surrounded by dry ice, does it need to be frozen?" Cui Mengmeng asked gossipy.
"There are so many in the trunk, all in frosted food containers. Although I can't see clearly what's inside, I can vaguely see that there are many colors. They're really pretty..." Xin Yujue stretched her neck and kept peeking inside, looking at each box one by one.
She could hear her two roommates talking nearby. Holding Zhuangzhuang in her arms, Ning Yao stood by the car with a motherly smile and said softly.
“He made the blind box pastries himself, saying he was going to be away for a week and prepared them for me.”
"Wow, blind box pastries! What could be inside? Could it be a diamond ring?" Cui Mengmeng was extremely excited.
She knew that President Wen's proposal would not be low-key; perhaps every one of those blind box pastries contained a diamond ring.
Ning Yao rolled her eyes at Cui Mengmeng and said with amusement, "Do you think Wen Tingye is such a boring person?"
