Chapter 51 What did Jiang Lin do to you?
Chapter 51 What did Jiang Lin do to you?
"What?" Chen Jiangqiao was startled, snapping out of his reverie and immediately suppressing the desire in his eyes.
"We've been walking for at least three minutes, but we still haven't reached the end." Ji Xingyi's goal was the room at the end of the corridor. He roughly estimated the distance to be only twenty or thirty meters, but the two of them, grown men, had walked at least two hundred meters and still hadn't even touched the doorknob!
"An endless staircase, a corridor that never seems to end—I hate these kinds of plots," Chen Jiangqiao said, taking a deep breath. Just as he finished speaking, Ji Xingyi suddenly moved closer to him, startling Chen Jiangqiao.
Ji Xingyi stared at the young man in front of him: "You're strange."
Chen Jiangqiao felt guilty under the gaze. How could he possibly talk about such fantasies? If he did, wouldn't this guy tear him apart? As for his fighting ability, Chen Jiangqiao had absolutely no confidence.
"Haha, let's think about how to get through this?" Chen Jiangqiao chuckled twice, trying to change the subject.
"No!" Ji Xingyi pressed down hard on Chen Jiangqiao's shoulder, his eyes narrowing slightly: "What were you thinking just now?"
The monsters that appear in the Otherworld are all woven from human fears and fantasies. Similarly, the problem with this corridor is because of the people who set foot in it.
Ji Xingyi was very certain that he was innocent, so it could only be Chen Jiangqiao.
Chen Jiangqiao understood Ji Xingyi's meaning, his face showing confusion. He looked up at the end of the corridor, and suddenly his expression changed drastically. Could it be that he subconsciously wanted more time alone with the two of them, causing the corridor to stretch endlessly, trapping them here?
"It really is you!" Ji Xingyi noticed the change in Chen Jiangqiao's expression and understood immediately.
Chen Jiangqiao blushed slightly: "Ahem, that's not important. What do we do now?"
Ji Xingyi scoffed: "Ha, you call others a burden, but I don't think you're any better!"
Chen Jiangqiao was about to retort when he felt a sharp pain in his neck. He looked at the man in front of him in disbelief, closed his eyes, and fainted.
After knocking Chen Jiangqiao unconscious, Ji Xingyi turned around and continued walking forward, letting out a sigh of relief the moment she grasped the doorknob.
In fact, Ji Xingyi wasn't very confident; it was just a guess.
On their first night at the castle, Ding Xuehui heard the murderous maid's voice, but she was unharmed, so she wasn't the one who summoned the maid. Ji Xingyi thought of Wang Liang, the ghost storyteller. He said he'd fallen and slept until dawn. Ji Xingyi then tried punching Chen Jiangqiao, and surprisingly, it worked.
Ji Xingyi turned around again, but Chen Jiangqiao was no longer in the blood-red corridor. It seemed he had returned to the outer world.
The simplest way to get rid of fearful illusions is indeed to address the root cause of those illusions!
Returning his gaze to the door in front of him, if he were Jiang Lin, the place he would most want to explore would be the room of the castle's owner, Green Xia Li!
Without hesitation, Ji Xingyi turned the doorknob. The moment the door opened, a large amount of blood gushed out as if a valve had been opened, instantly staining his trouser legs red.
Ji Xingyi had expected this to be the most magnificent room in the entire castle, but to his surprise, apart from the strange blood flowing on the floor, the huge room was completely empty.
This is definitely not the room of Earl Greenshire, the owner of the castle!
Ji Xingyi glanced around, his gaze finally settling on the source of the blood on the floor. It was seeping from the crack in the door of the innermost room.
Bedroom or study? Ji Xingyi didn't like to guess. He walked towards the closed door. With each step, the hard soles of his shoes made a crisp sound as they stepped on the blood, echoing in the empty room.
clap, clap, clap...
As he drew closer, Ji Xing first heard some faint sounds coming from behind the door. These sounds were unusual, and his hearing was not good enough to distinguish them.
An eerie atmosphere had somehow filled the entire space.
Ji Xingyi glanced at the crack in the door, where blood was still flowing steadily, and a cold smile appeared on his lips. He didn't believe that Jiang Lin was inside. He gripped the doorknob again and opened the door with a determined look in his eyes.
"Click".
Is it locked?
Ji Xing looked surprised, but without thinking much, she simply kicked the door open. The kick was delivered with full force, and with a loud "bang," the wooden door's lock snapped open.
Ji Xingyi wasn't afraid of demons or monsters, but she was still startled by the bloody creature inside the house. Not out of fear, but out of shock.
A man was locked in a small room.
The torso and head are facing the ceiling, while the hands and feet are twisted and reversed, supporting the ground, like a disassembled doll whose limbs have been reassembled but maliciously put back together backwards.
He was still struggling, thick blood gushing from multiple wounds on his body. He seemed unsure how to muster the strength to stand, his bones making a cracking, grinding sound.
This is the strange sound that Ji Xingyi heard outside the door!
The man tilted his head back with difficulty, and when he saw Ji Xingyi's face, he showed a surprised expression. He opened his mouth and pronounced Ji Xingyi's name familiarly.
"Fortunately... one..."
The unpleasant sound, like the grinding of sand, pulled Ji Xingyi's thoughts back from his memories.
“Teacher Shen…” Ji Xingyi couldn’t believe it.
The man's face was fragmented, like an uneven jigsaw puzzle, but Ji Xingyi still recognized Shen Wangshu at a glance.
The memories from three years ago are still vivid, but why is Shen Wangshu here?
The only answer Ji Xingyi could think of was "Jiang Lin".
Ding Xuehui used her fearful memories of the murderous maid to bring them into the Otherworld. So how did Jiang Lin enter the Otherworld?
"Xingyi!" Shen Wangshu grinned and called out happily as Ji Xingyi approached step by step.
Ji Xingyi observed his mentor, whom he hadn't seen for three years, up close. He couldn't understand why Shen Wangshu was a source of fear for Jiang Lin.
Just because he witnessed Shen Wangshu's suicide?
Ji Xingyi pictured Jiang Lin's ambiguous smile in his mind, his chest tight with suppressed emotions. He realized that he not only didn't know who Jiang Lin's first kiss was with, but also why Shen Wangshu had become a terrifying memory for Jiang Lin.
It seems there are still many things he doesn't know.
Why didn't he know?
Despite her broken body, Shen Wangshu not only refrained from attacking Ji Xingyi, but even moved closer to him, saying, "I missed you so much... Xingyi..."
"Teacher Shen." Ji Xingyi reached out and touched that familiar yet ugly face: "Where is Jiang Lin?"
Jiang Lin acted like a red switch, and Shen Wangshu's already broken body suddenly trembled violently, letting out heart-wrenching screams: "Jiang Lin!"
"Jiang Lin!"
"Jiang Lin!"
After the roar, he broke down in a frenzy of sobbing, his mangled body gushing blood like a spring: "Xingyi, it's Jiang Lin! Jiang Lin!"
Ji Xingyi suppressed the turmoil in her heart and asked in a hoarse voice, "Teacher Shen, what did Jiang Lin do to you?"
Shen Wangshu's body twisted into a pretzel as she desperately tried to squeeze into Ji Xingyi's arms. With a horrified expression, she accused him with utter grievance, "He killed me! Xingyi, it was Jiang Lin who killed me!"
