Chapter 17 The Giant Spirit Causes Trouble
Chapter 17 The Giant Spirit Causes Trouble
After the ritual at the South Heavenly Gate was completed, Haotian instructed everyone in the Heavenly Court to perform their duties. Some went to the Netherworld to help build the Underworld, while others stayed in the Primordial World to recruit manpower. Everything proceeded in an orderly manner.
Haotian returned to the Lingxiao Palace and used the Primordial Ancestral Qi to refine the ancient starry sky and the Thirty-Three Heavens. Since the Heavenly Court has been reborn, the main body of the Heavenly Court should also be promoted.
And so it went, day after day.
On this day, Haotian was concentrating with his eyes closed, using his authority to connect with the depths of the ancient starry sky. Suddenly, a thought stirred within him, and he sensed something in the darkness. With a wave of his hand, the Haotian Mirror appeared out of thin air and hung before him.
The mirror surface rippled, gradually reflecting a clear image.
Haotian stared intently, his brows furrowing.
The painting depicts a burly celestial soldier clad in golden armor and wielding a broad axe, protecting a black tiger and confronting a Taoist priest from afar. The soldier has a fierce and menacing appearance, yet exudes a simple and honest charm.
"Is this the Giant Spirit God?" Haotian was slightly taken aback. This person was a rare spiritual beast that had attained enlightenment, possessing immense strength. He was recruited into the Heavenly Court by Taibai Jinxing and appointed as a subordinate general.
According to my memories from my past life, I was destined to become a celestial general, conquering all directions for the Heavenly Court—but that was a long time from now. The Heavenly Court has just been established, and I never imagined this person would already be under my command?
Haotian's gaze shifted to the Taoist priest. He was dressed in a green robe, with a face as handsome as jade, three long strands of beard, and an imposing air between his brows. He stood with his hands behind his back, his aura as deep and vast as the sea, the might of a Great Luo Golden Immortal, which even made people tremble through the Haotian Mirror.
"Zhao Gongming?" Haotian recognized the man. He was the eldest disciple of the outer sect of the Jie Sect, the elder brother of the Three Immortals of Sanxiao, and a Great Luo Golden Immortal, having entered the realm of "cultivation," far surpassing ordinary cultivators. He held a prestigious position within the Jie Sect and had a considerable reputation in the prehistoric world.
Haotian, observing the two's standoff, rubbed his temples. The Giant Spirit God was merely a True Immortal, not even a Golden Immortal. Zhao Gongming, on the other hand, was a Great Luo Golden Immortal, capable of annihilating the Giant Spirit God a hundred times over in a single thought. How could these two have bumped into each other, and in such a tense, confrontational manner?
Haotian didn't rush to set off, but patiently read on.
---
In the scene, Zhao Gongming stands not far from the Giant Spirit God, not deliberately releasing his aura, yet his power as a Great Luo Immortal is as imposing as a mountain, causing the grass and trees to bow low, and even the air seems to solidify. His expression is quite unfriendly.
"Who gave you permission to take my mount? And to plunder the treasures of my cave?" Zhao Gongming's voice wasn't loud, but every word was like thunder, making the black tiger tremble. "Are you trying to bully me, Zhao Gongming?"
The truth of the matter is as follows—
After the last disturbance in the Heavenly Court, Zhao Gongming went to Jin'ao Island to listen to the Tongtian Sect Leader preach. A sage preaching was a rare opportunity, one that could not be missed. Before leaving, he sealed his cave dwelling and instructed his mount, Black Tiger, to guard it well.
Unexpectedly, when he returned to his cave after listening to the teachings, he found that the restrictions had been broken, his mount was gone, and all the rare and precious materials had been looted!
Zhao Gongming was furious and followed the scent, finally intercepting the "thief" here. There he saw the heavenly soldiers of the Heavenly Court leading a black tiger, whose back was bulging with storage bags, obviously filled with many good things.
It was the Giant Spirit God.
When the Giant Spirit God saw Zhao Gongming, his heart skipped a beat. He recognized him as Zhao Gongming, the eldest disciple of the outer sect of the Intercepting Sect, a successor of the Dao Ancestor Hongjun, and a favorite disciple of the Sage Tongtian, a man of great renown in the prehistoric world.
Anyone else would have already knelt down and begged for mercy. But the Giant Spirit God was not afraid. Instead, he stepped forward, cupped his hands in greeting, and said neither servilely nor arrogantly, "This humble god, the Giant Spirit God of the Heavenly Court, pays respects to the Great Immortal."
"The Heavenly Court?" Zhao Gongming raised an eyebrow.
"Indeed." The Giant Spirit God puffed out his chest, a hint of pride in his voice. "This humble god is acting on the Heavenly Emperor's decree to recruit people and gather talented individuals. Fellow Daoist Black Tiger yearns for the Heavenly Court, and therefore wishes to join me. As for those rare and precious treasures..."
He paused, then said, "The primordial world is vast and rich in natural resources; it is a place for the virtuous. Fellow Daoist Black Tiger wishes to plant it in the Heavenly Court as a pledge of allegiance."
Upon hearing this, Zhao Gongming's face darkened. He finally understood—this brat, under the guise of recruiting people from Heaven, had come to his territory, forcibly stolen his mount, and looted his cave. And judging from his demeanor, he seemed completely unperturbed.
The Giant Spirit God, still oblivious, continued, "Please, Great Immortal, do not obstruct me. Under heaven, all land belongs to the king; within the borders, all people are his subjects. The Three Realms are entirely under the jurisdiction of the Heavenly Emperor. What wrong is there in my recruiting talent in the Heavenly Court?"
That's a statement made with absolute certainty.
Zhao Gongming's face turned green.
"What's wrong with it?"
He took a deep breath. He admitted that Haotian was extremely powerful and of high seniority—among the disciples of the Dao Ancestor, Haotian was a disciple of Hongjun, of the same generation as the Six Sages. Even Zhao Gongming would have to respectfully address him as "Junior Uncle." A mount and a few rare treasures were indeed not worth turning against the Heavenly Court for.
However, this applies to Haotian!
What is the Giant Spirit God? In terms of status, he's just a minor god in the Heavenly Court, not even a Heavenly General. In terms of cultivation, he's merely a True Immortal; a sneeze from him could kill him. He stole my mount, dug up my spiritual herbs, and yet he has the audacity to tell me not to stop him?
How dare he!
"What a fine official appointed by the Heavenly Court."
Zhao Gongming sneered and raised his hand to strike. He didn't use his full strength, less than a tenth of it—after all, the opponent was Haotian's man, and it wouldn't be good to explain if he killed him.
However, how could a true immortal withstand a mere wave of his hand?
Snapped!
Before the giant spirit could even react, he was sent flying, crashing through more than ten large trees and rolling more than twenty feet before finally coming to a stop.
"Pfft—" He spat out a mouthful of blood, struggled to get up, and looked utterly astonished.
The black tiger, however, was quick-witted. It had already run away from the giant spirit and obediently returned to Zhao Gongming's side, crying and pleading, "Master, I was forced! Waaah!"
Upon hearing this, the Giant Spirit God was stunned for a moment, then roared angrily, "Good heavens! The one who bribed me with spiritual treasures to get me to introduce him to the Heavenly Court, wasn't that you? Black Tiger, you're a tiger, not a dog!"
Zhao Gongming ignored the farce and coldly retorted, "Let my junior master... let Haotian come to see me himself!"
After he finished speaking, only the vast, resounding sound echoed in the sky.
After the giant spirit got up, he looked completely bewildered.
How could this happen? How dare he lay a hand on me?
Did you not know that my Heavenly Emperor is the ruler of the Three Realms? When I return to the Heavenly Court, I will certainly report this matter to the Heavenly Emperor!
---
At this moment, inside the Lingxiao Palace.
Haotian sighed softly, using the Haotian Mirror to take in everything that had happened. Although he had expected it, he still hadn't anticipated that the Giant Spirit God would be so reckless.
He had previously found this person agreeable—diligent and loyal. He never imagined the man would be so dim-witted.
That's right, Haotian was indeed appointed by the Dao Ancestor as the Lord of the Heavenly Court, theoretically unifying the Three Realms. However, that was only "theoretically"!
In the primordial world, powerful beings were everywhere, sages sat high on thrones, and various forces were deeply intertwined. The Heavenly Court was nothing but an empty shell, lacking both manpower and resources.
Although he possesses ancestral energy and considerable strength, he cannot truly keep saying "All land under heaven belongs to the king" all the time!
You, a mere True Immortal, dare to trespass on the Daoist temples of Great Luo Golden Immortals, seize their mounts, and empty their cave dwellings, yet you tell them not to stop you…
Isn't this just asking for trouble?
Haotian stood up and straightened his clothes.
"Well, I guess I'll have to clean up this mess myself."
He then stepped out of the Lingxiao Palace, transformed into a streak of light, and flew straight towards where Zhao Gongming was.
He was quite helpless when faced with such a reckless subordinate.
