Chapter 95 Relocation of the Entire Village
Chapter 95 Relocation of the Entire Village
The relocation of Baihe Village was much more difficult than Zhou Ning had anticipated.
The villagers have lived on this land for generations; their ancestral graves are here, their fields are here, and their houses are here.
Although the people of Montenegro attacked repeatedly, and although they escaped death each time, it was no easy task for them to leave their homeland and start over in a strange place.
Li Laoshuan, along with several elderly villagers, stood under the old locust tree at the village entrance, reluctant to leave for a long time.
Their eyes were filled with reluctance and confusion, as if they were saying their final goodbye to this land.
"Brother Zhou, is it really absolutely necessary to move?"
Li Laoshuan's voice was hoarse, and his eyes were red.
"Our ancestors have lived here for generations, and their graves are all here. When we're gone, who will burn paper money and offer incense for them?"
Zhou Ning sighed and said:
"Village head, I know you're reluctant. But the people from Black Mountain won't let this go. They've been driven away this time, but they'll come back with even more people next time. If you stay here, you'll only face death."
He paused, then continued:
"Although the foot of Qingyun Mountain is not as familiar as this place, my master is stationed there, and the people of Black Mountain dare not go there."
"You can rebuild your homes there, cultivate the land, and live a peaceful and prosperous life. When the Black Mountain Demon is destroyed in the future, you can come back whenever you want.
Li Laoshuan remained silent for a long time before finally nodding.
"Okay. Let's move it."
The villagers began packing their bags.
Every household is packing clothes, food, and farm tools; they take what they can with them and leave what they can't.
The women tidied up while wiping away tears, while the children, not yet understanding the sadness of parting, chased and played in the yard.
Zhou Ning helped the villagers move heavy objects, and used his Qingfeng sword to cut down several large trees to make several simple carts for the villagers to transport goods.
After a busy day, everyone finally finished packing up as the sun set.
Li Laoshuan counted the number of people; there were a total of 37 households and 123 people.
Most of the victims were elderly people, women, and children; there were only a dozen or so young adults, most of whom had died or been injured in the previous demonic calamity.
"Let's go."
Li Laoshuan took one last look at the village, then turned and led the way towards Qingyun Mountain.
The villagers followed behind him, forming a long and silent procession.
Zhou Ning walked at the back of the group and glanced back at Baihe Village.
The afterglow of the setting sun spilled onto the rooftops of the village, bathing everything in a warm golden hue.
The old locust tree at the village entrance swayed in the wind, making a rustling sound, as if bidding farewell to the departing villagers.
"Take care," Zhou Ning said silently to himself, then turned around and followed the group.
It is about sixty li from Baihe Village to Qingyun Mountain.
There were elderly people and children in the group, so they couldn't walk fast.
After discussing it, Zhou Ning and Li Laoshuan decided to rest for one night on the road and continue their journey the next day.
As night fell, the group stopped in an open field.
The villagers lit a bonfire, sat around it, ate dry rations, and drank water.
The children nestled in their mother's arms and fell into a deep sleep.
The elderly people gazed at the starry sky and whispered among themselves.
Zhou Ning did not rest. He sat cross-legged on a large rock, spreading his divine sense to cover an area of a hundred feet in radius, constantly alert to any movement around him.
Late at night.
All sounds are silent.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from afar.
Zhou Ning suddenly opened his eyes, gripped the Qingfeng sword tightly, and stood up.
"Someone's coming."
He whispered to Li Laoshuan beside him:
Tell everyone to be quiet and hide behind the cart.
Li Laoshuan's expression changed, and he quickly told the villagers to hide.
Zhou Ning poured his true essence into the Qingfeng Sword, and the sword shone with a faint golden light.
He followed the direction from which the sound came and quietly walked over.
After walking about several dozen steps, a group of figures appeared ahead.
Under the moonlight, the figures swayed and moved stiffly, emanating a faint stench of decay.
"Zombies?" Zhou Ning frowned.
As the figures drew closer, he finally made out their appearance.
It was a group of zombies, about twenty or thirty in number, wearing tattered clothes, with bluish-black skin, sunken eyes, and black liquid dripping from the corners of their mouths.
They wandered aimlessly, emitting low growls.
"They came from the direction of Baihe Village."
Zhou Ning understood.
These walking corpses were likely formed after being contaminated by the corpse gas underground in Baihe Village.
They were originally the dead buried around the village, but because the seal loosened and the corpse energy leaked out, they came back to life.
"It must be dealt with, otherwise it will harm the villagers."
Zhou Ning pulled out three "evil-repelling talismans" from his waist and threw them at the group of zombies.
Three golden beams of light exploded within the horde of zombies.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The three zombies were blasted away, their bodies engulfed in golden flames.
But more zombies surged forward, seemingly sensing the life force emanating from Zhou Ning, and frantically pounced on him.
Zhou Ning used his lightness technique to weave through the horde of zombies, decapitating them one by one with his sword.
His swordsmanship was fierce, each strike hitting vital points with precision, causing the zombies to fall to the ground and turn into piles of rotting flesh.
In less than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, all twenty or thirty zombies were wiped out.
Zhou Ning sheathed his sword and exhaled a long breath.
"Brother Zhou, are you alright?"
Li Laoshuan poked his head out from behind the cart, his face deathly pale.
Zhou Ning shook his head: "It's nothing. They were just some zombies, and they've already been dealt with."
Li Laoshuan breathed a sigh of relief, but he was still shaken.
"Brother Zhou, tell me, why are there so many evil spirits in this world? Can't we ordinary people even live a peaceful life?"
Zhou Ning was silent for a moment, then said:
"Village head, in this world, there are demons and evil spirits, and there is also righteousness. Demons and evil spirits harm people, and righteousness eliminates them. As long as there are people like me, demons and evil spirits will not be allowed to run rampant."
Li Laoshuan nodded, his eyes filled with gratitude.
"Brother Zhou, you're a good person. Good people are rewarded."
Zhou Ning smiled but didn't say anything.
The next morning, the group continued their journey.
After walking for about two hours, a small hill appeared ahead.
Standing on the hill was a man, none other than Yan Chixia.
"Master?"
Zhou Ning quickly went to meet him.
"What brings you here?"
Yan Chixia said, "I foresaw that you would encounter trouble, so I came to provide backup."
He glanced at the villagers in the group and nodded slightly.
"They're all here?"
Zhou Ning nodded: "All 123 villagers from Baihe Village are here."
Yan Chixia said, "There is an open space at the foot of Qingyun Mountain. I have already had some simple houses built. You can stay here for now, and we can rebuild them slowly after you are settled."
Li Laoshuan quickly stepped forward and bowed deeply to Yan Chixia: "Thank you very much, Immortal Master Yan, thank you very much, Immortal Master Yan."
Yan Chixia waved his hand: "No need to thank me. Your peaceful and prosperous lives are the greatest thanks I can give you."
He turned around and led the way toward Qingyun Mountain.
Zhou Ning followed behind, a warm feeling welling up in his heart.
Although Master is usually stern and doesn't smile much, he always steps up when it matters.
His path is to protect.
His sword is wielded for the sake of all living beings.
After walking for about an hour, the group finally arrived at the foot of Qingyun Mountain.
Sure enough, there was an open space at the foot of the mountain.
On the open ground, dozens of simple wooden houses were built. Although simple, they were enough to shelter us from the wind and rain.
