Chapter 168 Lao Tzu Seeks Instructions, Styx Preemptively Establishes a Religion
With the help of the sage Nuwa in the Thirty-Three Heavens, the Three Pure Ones returned to the Thirty-Three Heavens almost instantly.
"My three fellow Daoists, the Dao Ancestor has said that I intend to create another world outside the Primordial Heaven as a dwelling place for the Sages. I'm afraid I won't be able to participate in this great calamity," Nuwa said to the Three Pure Ones with a guilty expression.
In the time to come, she needs to think about how to eliminate some of her karma with the Heavenly Court and extricate herself from the Great Tribulation. The Heavenly Court in the prehistoric world is different from the original Demon Court. With the addition of the Three Pure Ones and later the participation of Zhen Yuanzi and other great supernatural beings, the Heavenly Court now has the potential to unify the prehistoric world. The karma they have to bear is naturally far greater than that of the Demon Court.
Of course, in the original primordial world, the rulers of the Demon Court also had a lot of karma to bear.
"The sage's actions could be better." Lao Tzu looked at Nuwa, not trying to stop her, for such things could not be prevented anyway.
"I wonder if the Sage could preach once in the Heavenly Court? In this way, some karmic consequences could be averted," Laozi asked Nuwa tentatively.
He wanted to try and see if he could also comprehend the opportunity to attain sainthood from Nuwa's teachings. If not, the teachings of a saint were still a great opportunity. With this opportunity, he could take another step forward and get closer to the position of a saint.
"Of course it's possible," Nuwa said with a smile.
Before long, Nuwa would broadcast the news of the Primordial Dao Fruit from the thirty-three heavens of the Heavenly Court to the entire prehistoric world, causing countless waves. Dijun and Taiyi took this opportunity to invite all living beings in the prehistoric world to join the Heavenly Court and strengthen its power in the name of saints.
Among the quasi-saints of the Heavenly Court, Di Jun and Tai Yi were undoubtedly among the first to see through the impending great calamity. However, Di Jun, who was born with the destiny of a supreme being, could not possibly retreat on this path.
At this moment, the entire Thirty-Three Heavens was peaceful and even showed signs of prosperity, as if there was nothing to worry about and as if the calamity between heaven and earth had disappeared.
Everything will be alright as long as the disciples of the Dao Ancestor become saints.
Meanwhile, ignoring Nuwa's sermon, Styx did not return to the Netherworld. Instead, he recalled the Corpse-Holder and Daoist, and in an incarnation, came among the human race to begin studying them.
Meanwhile, after the River Styx obscured the secrets of heaven and ensured that no one could detect his movements, he began to deduce a new path of cultivation.
A path that is suitable for and universal to the human race, a path that can become the foundation of the human race, and will not be abandoned by the human race as long as the primordial world does not reach the end of the Dharma era, no matter how the world changes.
A great road that could serve as the foundation for his religion and the hub connecting him with the human race.
This path doesn't require his management; he only needs to wait patiently for humanity to grow along with it, and it will then provide him with a continuous stream of fortune.
Several thousand years later, within the thirty-three heavens, Nuwa's sermon concluded, and she departed for the primordial wilderness beyond, where she opened up a new world—
Fangxintiandi, as the abode of sages, has seen countless beings join the Primordial Heavenly Court at this moment, which greatly increases the Heavenly Court's fortune. This is undoubtedly a good thing for the Heavenly Court, as the rising fortune also suppresses all dissenting voices within the Heavenly Court, allowing it to emerge from the shadows.
But at this moment, those who are observant have already noticed something amiss. Now that the Heavenly Court has gained a new sage, why hasn't its fortune increased as much as expected?
However, all of this has nothing to do with the River Styx.
At this moment, the Styx manifested countless incarnations, distributed among the human race. After thousands of years, a brand new Great Dao has taken shape.
This path is based on the Great Dao of Literature, the Great Dao of Soul, and the Great Dao of Blood. It uses the two paths of literature and martial arts to temper one's life and destiny, and takes the Great Dao of Heaven and Earth and the Great Dao of Reincarnation as the main direction of cultivation for the next stage, leading one into the path of immortality.
This path of cultivation is quite suitable for the human race. As for the tempering process, Styx did not hesitate to draw on the "Golden Elixir Path" created by Lao Tzu in the future: refining essence into qi, refining qi into spirit, refining spirit to return to emptiness, refining emptiness to merge with the Dao, and then stepping into the path of immortality.
For the first generation of humans created by Nuwa, completing this process and thus entering the path of immortality was not difficult.
This path perfectly suits the needs of the human race and aligns with their characteristics: low minimum requirements, high maximum requirements, and strong universality. For a race that reproduces extremely quickly and whose members possess intelligence, despite being born weak, they have extremely high plasticity and talent. This is undoubtedly the most suitable path for them.
Moreover, the paths of literature and martial arts can be applied to more than just cultivation for the human race; they can also be used in other areas. In the future, even if the demon race slaughters the human race, wiping out all of the original humans created by Nuwa, the newly born human race will still be able to easily adapt to these paths.
Styx had taken precautions here, making two special arrangements when creating this path.
First, he secretly introduced the script he created into the human race.
Today, the script he created has become the mainstream of the prehistoric world. Over countless years, there have been others who wanted to create their own script and share in the merit of its creation, but almost all of them failed. This is because the script he created is under the Xuanmen (mysterious sect), and all living beings in the prehistoric world use it. Even if a new script were to emerge, it would be completely outmatched by the sheer number of users of the Dao script.
But humans are different. Humans are the future protagonists of the world, and the script they use will undoubtedly be the mainstream script in the future.
To be honest, Styx did not want the script he created to become an ancient script that no one would use in the future. After all, the Dao script was providing him with fortune every moment. Therefore, he took this opportunity to let the Dao script he created flow into the human race.
This might deprive humanity of the opportunity to create its own writing system, but given the current state of the prehistoric world, this move may not necessarily be a bad thing. It will undoubtedly allow humanity to integrate into the prehistoric world more quickly. At the same time, obtaining writing now is undoubtedly a great thing that will accelerate the development of humanity.
It's fair to say that it has both advantages and disadvantages.
The second little scheme was specifically for Lao Tzu.
The reason why Lao Tzu was able to become the leader of all the saints in the primordial world, second only to the Dao Ancestor who had already attained the Dao, was largely due to the Golden Elixir Dao he created and the fortune provided to him by the human race. The Dao created by Styx River specifically enhanced his competitiveness.
If you want to spread your teachings to the human race, fine, then first create a path that is more suitable for the human race than the one you created. However, that is not a simple matter.
At this moment, as Styx unleashed his divine powers, countless incarnations began to appear among the human race, passing down the Dao created by Styx.
