Spy Wars: Strong Agents Who Are Ruthless and Talk Little

Chapter 449 More than one person

Chapter 449 More than one person

However, the footsteps outside didn't stop. The person didn't seem to intend to go directly into the storage room, but instead stopped near the sink. Su Ming held his breath, pressed his body against the wall, and tried not to make any noise, fearing that he would reveal his position.

"So what if they discover me?" he asked himself. However, he knew the answer—he wasn't about to give up his chance to escape. Even if the enemy realized he was there, he still had a chance to strike back. Counterattacks didn't rely solely on strength, but more on the surrounding environment, on every moment of respite.

At that moment, a cold wind suddenly rushed into the bathroom, its damp chill making the air stagnant. Although the coldness of this season wasn't bone-chilling, it carried a kind of oppressive atmosphere, making the entire environment feel oppressive.

"Cold," Su Ming couldn't help but whisper to himself. The temperature outside gradually made him realize his situation. He unconsciously touched his clothes, and a thought suddenly occurred to him. This season, the wind was biting, and many people would wear heavy coats to ward off the cold. Perhaps this was his chance to change the situation.

He quickly pulled a white coat from the corner of the storage room. Su Ming's eyes scanned the restroom in the dim light. After confirming his whereabouts had not been exposed, he lowered his head and put his coat on. His movements were not hasty, yet they were decisive—he knew that every moment of delay could lead to danger.

As Su Ming finished donning the coat, his breathing became more stable. Originally dressed simply, he now looked like an ordinary person who had just entered from outside, nothing out of the ordinary. The cold weather made him shiver slightly, but it was this very chill that gave him a good excuse—he could use it to conceal his actions and change the outside world's perception of him.

He took a deep breath and gently adjusted his coat. Then, he slowed his breathing, trying not to make any sound. The footsteps outside finally stopped, as if the person had become suspicious of the surroundings.

Su Ming glanced through the crack in the door and saw Li Jing examining something near the sink, seemingly searching for clues. Time seemed to freeze at that moment, and the air grew more oppressive. Su Ming's heart nearly beat out of his chest. He knew he had to seize this opportunity to slip away quietly.

"Calm down, don't be impatient." He reminded himself secretly in his heart.

A faint light flickered through a nearby window, and through the rustle of the wind outside, he felt a sudden chill. The cold wind blew into the bathroom, bringing his thoughts back to reality—his plan, while complex, was not impossible. The alley outside the window was the direction he could escape. Now, his chance had come. If he could escape quietly outside, using the cold wind as cover, he could quickly disappear from this complex situation.

Su Ming glanced at the window, quickly considering his next move. He no longer had time to think too much, relying solely on the immediate environment and the subtle opportunities that presented themselves.

Li Jing finally left the sink and turned toward the door. The cold wind outside once again brought a sense of oppression, and the air seemed to become even more biting. As Li Jing's figure gradually disappeared at the door, Su Ming finally breathed a sigh of relief, and the tension in his heart temporarily eased. But he knew that his actions had only just begun.

He quickly walked to the window and gently pushed open the lattice. A cold breeze blew in, sending shivers down his spine. His heartbeat quickened, and his eyes fixed on the darkness outside, a nearly dark alleyway. Despite the silence, Su Ming knew it held a temporary escape route.

"If I don't escape now, I'm afraid I'll never have another chance." Su Ming thought to himself, and climbed out of the window quickly and decisively. His steps were light, but every step was full of vigilance.

The darkness and silence of the alley made him feel uneasy, but he knew he had to remain calm and not hesitate. There was no one around, only the occasional barking of dogs and the rustling of leaves in the wind in the distance.

"Keep moving forward." Su Ming encouraged himself in his heart and gradually moved away from the place where he was about to be exposed.

As the cold wind blew, Su Ming's steps became increasingly cautious. At the end of the alley, a faint light shone through. This was an alley leading to the main street. Su Ming knew that if he could reach it safely, he would have more options. However, he also knew that he was still under enemy surveillance.

Every second, he pondered his next move. His calves began to tingle, the cold wind chilling him to the bone, yet the anxiety and unease within him sharpened his nerves. The feeling of being watched never left him, and now, he knew—outside, the world still surrounded him.

Suddenly, his phone vibrated, breaking the silence. Su Ming lowered his head and secretly took the phone out of his coat pocket. The screen displayed a message from Zheng Yaoxian.

"The situation outside is not good. You must evacuate as soon as possible. There are already a large number of auxiliary police stationed outside. The enemy may already know your location."

Su Ming's heartbeat quickened, the scene before him blurry, and a wave of dizziness washed over him. Auxiliary police? The term wasn't unfamiliar to him, but it only made him realize more clearly that his situation might be far more complicated than he'd anticipated. Auxiliary police differed from regular patrol officers in that their missions were more specialized and threatening. Because they often operated in conjunction with other departments, they typically carried more equipment and moved very quickly, making them difficult to disengage from.

He grabbed the phone tightly, exerting a little force with his fingertips, even a little too much, and almost broke the screen. He suppressed his anxiety and quickly replied to Zheng Yaoxian:

"They've set up control of the perimeter? How many people are there?"

Almost immediately, Zheng Yaoxian's reply popped up on the screen: "There are more than two hundred people. At least five teams are surrounding your position. I just learned from their communication that you have become a target. If you still hope to escape, you must change your plan immediately and avoid their sight."

Su Ming could barely contain himself when he saw this message. Two hundred men? It wasn't that the enemy had already discovered his position, but rather that they had already locked onto him and quickly deployed a siege. In other words, he was in an unprecedented predicament.
