Chapter 533: Seemingly Panic
Chapter 533: Seemingly Panic
Su Ming didn't answer immediately, instead staring coldly at the other person, his gaze unwavering. His hands were already at his waist, ready to respond to any unexpected situation. Although he felt a lingering fear from his previous actions, he now had no way out.
"I want to know why you wanted to steal that bag?" Su Ming's tone was calm, but full of oppression.
The robber was silent for a moment, seemingly hesitant about whether to speak. Su Ming could sense the wavering in his heart, a sense of helplessness that seemed to permeate the air. After a few seconds of silence, the robber finally spoke: "Do you think I'm willing? I don't have a choice."
Su Ming's brows raised slightly, and his tone became even colder: "No choice? Are you saying you were forced to do this?"
The robber didn't answer, merely lowering his head, his eyes flickering. Su Ming observed his reaction and suddenly understood something. Perhaps this robber wasn't inherently evil; perhaps there was some compelling reason behind his actions.
"Why are you running away?" Su Ming asked again, with a threat in his tone that could not be ignored.
A flash of fear flashed across the robber's eyes. He raised his head and glanced around anxiously, as if searching for an escape route. Su Ming knew that the other party had made up his mind and would not easily give up the opportunity to escape.
"Are you a policeman?" the robber suddenly asked with a hint of temptation in his voice.
"I'm not." Su Ming replied calmly, his eyes still fixed on the other person.
"So what do you want to do?" The robber's tone was filled with impatience. "Do you think I will listen to you obediently?"
Su Ming looked into his eyes, his heart trembling. There was no trace of malice in those eyes, only deep helplessness and fear. Su Ming couldn't help but feel a little dazed, as if he saw himself in the past - back then, he too was filled with anxiety and confusion, facing a complex situation, and he didn't know where to start.
"I want to know why you do these things." Su Ming whispered with a hint of sympathy in his tone.
The robber's eyes flickered, as if touched by Su Ming's words. He stood there, silent for a moment, then whispered, "I... I had no choice. I owed a lot of money, and there were people chasing me. I didn't want to do this, but they threatened me and forced me to rob."
Su Ming's heart trembled. The man before him wasn't the cold-blooded villain he'd imagined, but rather someone driven to despair. Su Ming knew that anyone could be driven to despair in such an environment, and he himself had felt that helplessness and oppression at times.
"Can you help me?" The robber suddenly raised his head, his eyes filled with hope and fear. "I really have no other choice. I... I just want to survive."
Su Ming's mood grew complicated. Standing at a crossroads, he felt conflicted. He knew he couldn't remain calm and rational forever, and sometimes, he might need to make difficult decisions.
He took a deep breath, his eyes becoming firm: "I'll help you, but you have to promise me that you won't do these things again."
The robber was stunned for a moment, seemingly not expecting Su Ming to respond in this way. A flicker of disbelief flashed across his eyes, but then he nodded, "I promise you."
Su Ming looked at the other person, his heart still filled with doubts. He knew that this decision might bring greater trouble, but he also knew that he couldn't turn a blind eye to someone who was forced into a desperate situation.
Su Ming led the robber out of the dim alley, but his heart remained restless. Despite his best efforts to remain calm, he couldn't suppress the turmoil within him. The robber's eyes, his tone, even his helpless expression, replayed repeatedly in Su Ming's mind. Many people in this world experience unspeakable pain and helplessness, and he seemed to always have to face these complex situations.
"Am I doing the right thing?" Su Ming asked himself, his pace still firm, but he unconsciously slowed down. He knew he wasn't a fearless hero, just someone trying to find balance in a complex situation. Every decision he made could have unforeseen consequences.
"Where are you going?" The robber's voice broke Su Ming's thoughts, with a hint of urgency.
Su Ming came back to his senses and turned to look at him: "Find a place to sit down and calm down first."
The robber seemed relieved, and his pace became lighter as he followed Su Ming. Although he was still frightened, Su Ming's attitude gave him a glimmer of hope. The fear of being forced into a desperate situation seemed to ease slightly.
However, just as Su Ming was about to take him to a relatively safe place, his phone suddenly vibrated. Su Ming pulled his phone from his pocket, glanced at the screen, and his heartbeat suddenly accelerated—it was a message from Zheng Yaoxian.
"Urgent mission, contact immediately."
These few brief words instantly made Su Ming's heart sink. His eyes grew heavy, and a series of possibilities raced through his mind. Every time Zheng Yaoxian contacted him, it almost seemed like a new storm was brewing. Whether it was the previous complexities or the current predicament, Su Ming knew he could no longer avoid them.
"I have to go," Su Ming whispered to the robber. His tone was calm, but his heart was turbulent. The task at hand clearly couldn't be delayed. He needed to find Zheng Yaoxian as soon as possible and get to the bottom of what was happening.
"You...you really want to leave?" The robber seemed a little panicked, as if he couldn't believe Su Ming would leave so suddenly. The man in front of him seemed to have given him some comfort, but now he was leaving again.
"I have something to take care of." Su Ming's eyes became firm. "Find a solution yourself and try not to cause any more trouble."
The robber was stunned for a moment, then nodded, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. Although he still didn't understand Su Ming's true identity, he knew that this man seemed to be the only one willing to give him a chance.
"Thank you," he whispered, his tone full of gratitude.
Su Ming said nothing more, turning and walking quickly towards the other end of the street. With each step he took, his mood grew increasingly tense. Zheng Yaoxian's urgent missions were never simple, and he was accustomed to being ready to deal with sudden and complex situations at any time.
The sound of his cell phone vibrating once again broke the silence of his thoughts, and Su Ming quickly answered the call.
"Su Ming, things have changed." Zheng Yaoxian's voice came from the other end of the phone, with a hint of urgency, "Are you ready?"
