Chapter 162 Fly Alliance
Chapter 162 Fly Alliance
Just as we were discussing how to get into the enemy territory, a loud commotion suddenly came from not far away, and I felt a great deal of pressure.
He quickly hid behind a large tree, wanting to see what was going on and why there had suddenly been such a loud commotion.
Before long, a snake slowly crawled towards the sky, and on its head was an unusually large fly, just like a scene from a fantasy novel, appearing not far from us with a mythical beast.
Seeing this bizarre scene, I was instantly dumbfounded. Wasn't that snake the very thing that had been chasing us all day? We were just flirting with girls, how did it suddenly become someone's mount?
I was completely baffled watching from the sidelines. What was going on?
"Are you sure you can help me find that snow rabbit?" Chu Xin asked, standing on the dividing line of defense.
“Of course, besides us, there are only the flies on the other side. Since we didn’t rescue them, then they must have. Our cooperation is definitely a win-win situation,” said the fly standing on Chu Xin’s head.
The fly was much larger than a normal fly. It is said that flies that eat carrion and rotting flesh are larger than flies that eat feces and decaying plants, and their eyes glow green.
And now, looking at the flies on the head of that original aspiration, I see it in this state. Damn, what kind of flies are we going to face?
Such a ferocious fly actually teamed up with a snake? Isn't that a joke?
This is like a pay-to-win game against a regular player! How are we supposed to make a move?
I looked at the snake opposite me with great frustration. What was this snake's purpose?
"I'll trust you this once. If you dare to deceive me, you know the consequences," the snake called Chuxin said angrily.
"Of course, why would we lie to you?" the fly on it said very politely.
As the snake slowly approached our territory, a large number of flies behind it gradually appeared before our eyes.
Holy crap, the sheer number of them was overwhelming! It was the first time I'd ever seen two flies fighting, and the scene was so massive.
"Go back and report that there has been an enemy attack. Make sure the message reaches everyone," I hurriedly told the guide.
“But what about you, Your Majesty?” the guide asked with concern.
“I will continue on to their headquarters to retrieve the late emperor’s head,” I explained.
"But do you know how to get there?" he asked, thinking.
"Just tell me how to get there. When you go back to report, the border guard captain will be counting on you. You need to slow them down as much as possible and buy him some time," I said to the guide and the border guard captain.
So Na Xiang gave me a brief directions and then rushed back to his camp.
I quickly said to the garrison captain, "There are just too many enemies now. If you rush out, you'll only be throwing your lives away. So you should stick to guerrilla tactics, focusing on harassment and blocking their paths. Just slow them down."
"Okay, you should be careful too," the border guard captain said.
"I know. You should hurry up and assemble the team to start the operation. Whether we can win this battle depends on how long you can hold out," I said very seriously.
"Yes." After answering, the garrison captain rushed back to gather the flies and begin guerrilla warfare.
I immediately told Snow Rabbit to try to avoid the snake's line of sight, preferably by hiding behind a big tree. I dared not hope to escape the snake's pursuit by using the darkness.
Before long, the massive swarm of flies, led by the snake, rushed towards our camp. Only after they disappeared did I dare to call out the snow rabbit and hurriedly charge towards the enemy's main camp.
Fortunately, the address the guide gave me was not too difficult to understand. Although it was dark, I found their base camp in no time because of some landmarks.
Perhaps because a large number of flies had gone out to fight, the defenses of the main camp appeared unusually weak.
We hid not far away and watched their base camp. Their base camp was built on a relatively high slope, surrounded by many dead plants. Most importantly, not far from those plants was a rat that had been dead for who knows how long, and there were still many flies feeding on it.
I found it extremely disgusting, but since I was already there, I couldn't give up, so I continued watching to see where the late emperor's head was.
Wasn't it supposed to be hanging outside? I don't see anything, just some flies buzzing around aimlessly. Don't they sleep at night? What's with all that buzzing?
"Snow Rabbit, wait here for me. I'll go in and check the situation," I said softly.
"What about me?" Dafu asked excitedly, looking eager to try.
Damn, we're here to risk our lives, not for leisure. How come you guys don't seem nervous at all?
I said, speechless, "You and Snow Rabbit wait here for me. I'll be right back. Don't wander off."
"Okay," Dafu said.
“We won’t run away,” Snow Rabbit replied.
Seeing that they all agreed, I felt relieved and slowly crawled towards the base camp.
I dare not fly now, as I would be too conspicuous in the air. So I carefully crawled toward the main camp, hoping not to attract the enemy's attention, and to find out where the late emperor's head was.
It's possible that all the flies had gone out, so there were basically not many flies left. The most important thing is that those flies were quite relaxed and didn't expect that there would be flies causing trouble while their own army was attacking.
So it was all just for show. I easily and slowly crawled to the flies' stronghold, where two flies were chatting at the entrance.
"Hey bro, we should be able to take it down this time, right?" the gatekeeper fly asked the fly on the other side, bored.
"How would I know? But judging from the situation, it should be pretty much settled," replied the second fly guarding the gate.
"Why would the King cooperate with that snake? Is that snake stupid? Helping us so much just to find a rabbit?" said Fly A, the gatekeeper.
"Who knows? Maybe he's lost his mind because of the rain for the past few days."
"Do you think we can win this sneak attack, especially with the snake's help?"
"They should be able to, after all, their late emperor is dead, and now their strategist is dead too. They're leaderless now, what can they possibly use to resist?"
"That's true. Let's wait for the king's triumphant return. Luckily it's winter now; if it were summer, it would probably be rotten by now," the gatekeeper fly said, quite annoyed.
"There's nothing we can do. It's the king's order. He said it's to demoralize the enemy, so we just have to do it," said another fly guarding the gate.
The flies started chatting amongst themselves, but perhaps they were too bored, or perhaps they were just too sleepy in the middle of the night, and soon they fell asleep.
