Chapter 186 Visiting the patient
Chapter 186 Visiting the patient
"Why are you getting so angry? Who are you trying to teach a lesson to?!"
With a loud shout, Old Master Ye appeared at the door of the ward, his hands behind his back and his face stern.
"I could hear you shouting from far away. If you're in such good spirits, go home quickly and don't take up a ward and waste resources."
Grandma Ye immediately softened, her face full of grievance, "That girl Ye Xinghe is getting more and more unruly. She actually dared to talk back to me just now."
“If I don’t teach her a lesson, she’ll become even more unruly and won’t respect us two old people anymore.”
Ye Xinghe raised an eyebrow and questioned, "Grandma, can you be a little more truthful? I just walked in the door and you said you were annoyed with me and didn't want to see me. Can't I even be angry?"
"With your teaching methods, how much personal quality do you expect me to have?"
"I came here to bring you food out of kindness, not to make you suffer."
Grandma Ye was speechless after being rebuked, and glared angrily at Ye Xinghe.
Ye Xinghe looked back at him with the same expression, "You don't need to look at me like that. I will learn from your every move, every expression, and every word you say to me and use it on you. In the end, you'll only be the one who gets angry."
Grandpa Ye said sternly, "Alright. Hehe, say less and don't be rude to your grandma."
Grandma Ye quickly added, "Old Ye, Ye Xinghe really needs to be disciplined properly; he's been spoiled rotten."
Grandpa Ye walked to the bedside. “I will naturally talk to her about her problems. But we can’t entirely blame the child for what happened today. Someone came to bring you food, and you just chased her away. What does that mean?”
“I treat her like my grandma, and I know I should be filial to her, so I brought her food.” Ye Xinghe said, taking the lunchbox back. “But she probably doesn’t want to eat the food I brought, so I’ll take it back.”
"Put it down!" Old Master Ye said coldly. "Your grandmother is right, you're becoming more and more rude! If you take it, what will your grandmother eat?! She's still sick, do you want her to go hungry?! How can she ever get better?!"
Ye Xinghe lowered her head, looking like she had done something wrong, and said, "I'm sorry, Grandpa."
Old Master Ye's face darkened. "Don't apologize to me! Go apologize to your grandmother!"
Ye Xinghe walked pitifully to Grandma Ye, lowered her head, and said softly, "I'm sorry, Grandma. I know I was wrong. I was very rude just now, and you're right to reprimand me."
Grandma Ye looked smug. She naturally wouldn't miss the chance to teach Ye Xinghe a lesson. "I'm very dissatisfied with your behavior lately. You're not at all like a proper young lady from our Ye family. I really don't know how your mother raised you, or if your mother taught you to talk to me like this."
"Don't get complacent or arrogant just because you've achieved a little success. There are plenty of people more talented than you."
Ye Xinghe kept nodding, but he wasn't actually listening at all.
She stared blankly at Old Mrs. Ye's face, watching her mouth open and close, talking on and on.
Old Master Ye was getting tired of listening to her, so he said softly, "Old woman, let's eat first. The food is getting cold. Let's eat our fill before we lecture her."
Then he said sternly to Ye Xinghe, "Go wait over there and think carefully about your problem!"
Ye Xinghe obediently placed the food in front of Old Mrs. Ye, then stepped aside.
Before she arrived, she was worried that Old Mrs. Ye might be wary and not eat the food she brought, so she discussed this whole thing with Old Mr. Ye.
The grandfather and grandson worked together to persuade Grandma Ye to eat it.
Watching the two of them from the side, Ye Xinghe finally understood the true meaning of the saying "old ginger is spicier".
Who would have thought that the husband who was so loving towards his wife, practically feeding her, was actually poisoning her food!
Grandpa Ye asked with concern, "Where did Mingqi go? How could we leave you alone in the ward?"
Grandma Ye smiled and said, "He received a phone call and said something had come up at the company, so I let him go. I couldn't let him work be delayed."
“Mingqi is a very hardworking kid. He’s been expanding into overseas markets lately. He stayed up all night with me and didn’t get much sleep either, he was busy processing documents.”
Grandpa Ye understood her meaning and followed her words, saying, "Mingqi is a good child, it's time to promote him."
The meal lasted almost an hour before it was over, and Ye Xinghe stood there lost in thought the whole time.
Seeing that Ye Xinghe was in a daze, Old Mrs. Ye deliberately ordered her, "Hehe, go and get the chamber pot."
Ye Xinghe didn't hear at all and stood there motionless.
Grandma Ye moved forward a little, slapped her hand hard, and repeated it.
Ye Xinghe winced in pain and instantly came to her senses. "What did you say? Get the chamber pot?"
Grandma Ye looked at her defiantly with her cloudy old eyes, "You're unwilling to serve Grandma?"
Ye Xinghe smiled, a hint of cunning in her eyes, "How could that be? I'd love to, I'll go right now."
Ye Xinghe turned around, her face instantly turning cold, her eyes filled with intense ruthlessness.
She took the bedpan from the bathroom and returned to the bedside.
"Grandma, how do I use this? I don't know how. Can you teach me?"
Grandma Ye lay on the bed, weakly instructing Ye Xinghe, "First, draw the curtains. Then take off my pants and put the bedpan under my bottom."
Ye Xinghe did as instructed, then smiled and stared intently at Old Mrs. Ye.
Grandma Ye remained in this position for quite a while, feeling uncomfortable under Ye Xinghe's gaze, and had no urge to urinate whatsoever.
Ye Xinghe leaned even closer. "Grandma, can't you pee? Do you want me to help you?"
Grandma Ye said in a low voice, "You can go out first. I'll call you when I'm done."
"Okay." Ye Xinghe lifted the curtain and went out. "Grandma, I'll be standing right here, very close to you. Just call me when you're done, and I'll hear you."
Grandma Ye said angrily, "Shut up, don't say anything."
Soon after, the sound of rushing water could be heard.
Ye Xinghe lifted the curtain and went in, looking somewhat bewildered. "Grandma, what should we do next?"
Grandma Ye rolled her eyes at her. "Take the bedpan downstairs, help me pull up my pants and put them on, then go and empty the urinator. The bedpan needs to be thoroughly cleaned, inside and out."
"Okay, Grandma," Ye Xinghe replied obediently, then carefully pulled out the bedpan.
"Oh no! Grandma! This is terrible!" Ye Xinghe's eyes widened as she stared at the bedpan, her face filled with horror. "There's something wrong with your body!"
Grandma Ye looked flustered and said, "What nonsense are you talking about!"
