Chapter 39 Zixiao (3 lectures)
Chapter 39 Zixiao (3 lectures)
After the Wu Clan split into twelve tribes, its development gradually slowed down. Although more and more demons continued to join the Heavenly Court, the Heavenly Court could only try to stop them. Everyone understood that they dared not engage in a large-scale war with the demons.
Because many powerful beings are now out there, they frequently rob spiritual treasures and objects, so the ancestral witches will not cause trouble at this time.
If they really did that, who knows who might be the one to benefit? Nowadays, spiritual treasures are simply objects that increase cultivation for powerful beings in the primordial world. If a great war breaks out, they wouldn't mind reaping the benefits.
------
"Clang!...Clang! Clang!..."
Suddenly, nine bells rang out from the chaos, but the great beings of the primordial world did not react to this sound as before, because they all knew that Hongjun's third sermon was about to begin.
Sure enough, after the bell rang nine times, Hongjun's voice resounded throughout the entire prehistoric land.
"The three thousand years have passed. I will preach the Great Dao three times in Zixiao Palace. Those who are destined may come."
On the carefree island of Blood Sea, Mosquito Daoist heard this voice. He slowly opened his eyes. Although he knew that what Hongjun was mainly talking about was the way to become a saint through the Three Corpses, which would be of limited use to him, he believed that even if Hongjun himself did not understand the method of becoming a Primordial Golden Immortal, he would still explain it to him.
At the very least, he wanted to hear about the final distribution of the treasure. Besides, the Three Corpses Path might have its unique aspects, and it might be useful in the future.
Once outside, he flew towards Zixiao Palace with Styx. Although his body cultivation hadn't reached the peak of Quasi-Saint during his thousand-year seclusion, it had reached the late Quasi-Saint stage, which greatly pleased him.
Before leaving, he made a point of sensing the strength of his two corpses and his disciples.
The Reincarnation Daoist was only at the late Quasi-Saint stage, but he had already comprehended 30% of the Law of Time. During this time, the Mosquito Daoist also wanted him to eat the Yellow Plum, but later thought better of it. It would be more effective to use it when he comprehended the Law of Reincarnation. Even if he ate it now, he would only comprehend the Law of Time to the fifth level at most, which would not be of much help to him at present.
The biggest surprise was for Daoist Kongtong, whose cultivation level improved at an astonishing pace. After absorbing the merit given to him by Daoist Mosquito, he now possessed the strength of a late-stage Quasi-Saint, just like Daoist Samsara.
However, the two were not on the same level in terms of strength, a point that Mosquito Daoist had considered beforehand, but he didn't care, as becoming a saint in Kongtong was only a matter of time.
Among the disciples, Lu Er has already reached the peak of the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm, Xuan Ling and Chi Jue have passed the Transformation Tribulation and broken through to the early stage of the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm, while Qing Mang and Jin Peng, who joined the sect last, have also reached the peak of the Taiyi Golden Immortal realm.
Now, Jin Peng's murderous aura has completely dissipated, and he looks truly heroic and extraordinary.
When Minghe and his companion arrived at Zixiao Palace and saw that the palace gates were open, they did not linger and went inside. There were already many people sitting in the hall. The two of them also took their seats and quietly waited for the others to arrive.
A day later, no one else came. Mosquito Taoist observed the number of people in the lower hall. Sure enough, there were far fewer than last time.
There were probably two layers missing, which shows how fierce the battles in the prehistoric world were after Hongjun's last sermon. You have to know that even in the prehistoric world, there aren't many Grand Luo Golden Immortals, let alone the three thousand guests of Zixiao alone, five or six hundred of whom died, and the number of those who didn't have the opportunity to listen to the sermon was probably even more.
Shaking his head, he wondered how many powerful beings remained after Hongjun's ascension to the Dao. Suddenly, he sensed an unfriendly gaze fixed upon him, filled with murderous intent. Mosquito Daoist frowned, looking at the one who harbored such intent.
He was stunned after seeing it; he hadn't expected it to be a Kunpeng.
He was truly baffled, but he wasn't afraid of the other party, even though he knew the other party had now joined the Heavenly Court. But surely the other party wouldn't think they could threaten him just because of that? Moreover, Mosquito Taoist was still a little confused; wasn't the other party holding a grudge against Hongyun?
Did the other party not know that he was already at the peak of the Quasi-Saint realm? And yet he was so obviously hostile towards him. But that was impossible. Kunpeng was already at the mid-stage of the Quasi-Saint realm. If he couldn't see it, even he himself wouldn't believe it.
Little did he know that Kunpeng not only had a problem with him, but also with Hongyun. After joining the Heavenly Court, Kunpeng found an ally. The two hit it off immediately, and after some discussion, they were quite optimistic about their future.
"Brother, how is Beiming's cultivation now?" After seeing Mosquito Daoist enter, Yuanshi transmitted his voice to Laozi beside him to ask. Since the Three Pure Ones all have the strength of the late Quasi-Saint stage, but he saw that the other party's cultivation seemed to be higher than his own, he was not so sure.
"Second brother, this person has reached the peak of Quasi-Saint. You mustn't think about him all the time. Besides, it wasn't a big deal back then. Doing so can easily create inner demons," Laozi advised from the side. He knew that his second brother was always thinking about how to take revenge on Beiming.
Although Lao Tzu himself had his own thoughts, compared to attaining the Great Dao, everything else could be put aside. He also didn't want the other two to hold a grudge over this, which is why he reminded him.
Yuanshi didn't say anything more, he just nodded, it's unclear whether he listened or not.
Just as everyone arrived and the gates of Zixiao Palace closed, Hongjun appeared, sitting cross-legged on a high platform, looking down, and said: "This time I will preach the way to becoming a sage, which will take three thousand years."
At this moment, Hongjun was even more aloof than before, speaking without a trace of emotion, but he didn't care about such things. After finishing, he began his explanation:
"The Great Way is all-encompassing, it can be left or right. All things rely on it for life without it refusing, it accomplishes its work without claiming credit. It clothes and nourishes all things without being their master, it is always without desire, and can be called small. All things return to it without it being their master, and can be called great. Because it does not consider itself great in the end, it can achieve its greatness."
"The Way is empty yet its use is inexhaustible; it is like the origin of all things, deep and profound. It untangles the knots, softens the light, and mingles with the dust; it is still and seemingly ever-present. Great perfection seems incomplete, yet its use is inexhaustible. Great fullness seems empty, yet its use is boundless. Great straightness seems crooked, great skill seems clumsy, great eloquence seems stammering. Stillness overcomes agitation, cold overcomes heat, and tranquility is the true order of Heaven."
"What is secure is easily maintained; what is not easily planned for is easily broken; what is brittle is easily broken; what is insignificant is easily scattered. Act before things exist; govern before chaos arises. A tree that can be embraced grows from a tiny sprout. A nine-story tower rises from a pile of earth. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Those who act will fail; those who cling will lose. Therefore, the sage does nothing, and thus does not fail. He does not cling, and thus does not lose. People often fail when they are about to succeed. If one is as careful at the end as at the beginning, there will be no failure. Therefore, the sage does not desire or value rare goods. He learns from those who do not learn, corrects the mistakes of the masses, and assists all things in their natural course without interfering."
"Heaven and earth are ruthless, treating all things like straw dogs. The space between heaven and earth is like a bellows. It is empty yet inexhaustible, and the more it moves, the more it produces. Too much talk leads to exhaustion; it is better to abide in the middle way. Returning to the origin is called constancy; knowing constancy is called enlightenment. Not knowing constancy leads to reckless actions and misfortune. Knowing constancy allows for tolerance; tolerance leads to impartiality; impartiality leads to wholeness; wholeness leads to heaven; heaven leads to the Way; the Way is enduring; and one who follows the Way will not perish even after death."
