Chapter 298 Exploration 5
Chapter 298 Exploration 5
Lingyu continued deeper into the valley, the surrounding fog growing thicker, almost obscuring her vision. As she walked, the ground beneath her feet became soft and muddy, dragging her along like a swamp. Suddenly, a melodious flute tune drifted over, its ethereal melody carrying a hint of eeriness. Lingyu became alert, gripping her longsword tightly. As the flute music drew closer, a group of winged sprites appeared in her field of vision. They danced gracefully around Lingyu, who shimmered with a mysterious light. On the surface, these little creatures seemed harmless, but Lingyu knew that in this world full of fantasy and danger, there could be no such innocent and harmless beings.
As expected, the seemingly cute little sprites suddenly unleashed a chilling illusion. In an instant, all sorts of terrifying images surged towards Lingyu like a tidal wave: ferocious demons with bared fangs and claws, hideous beasts with grotesque faces, and sinister ghosts... Faced with this sudden fright, Lingyu remained unusually calm. She tightly closed her eyes, stubbornly resisting the impact of the illusion with her strong inner willpower.
Just then, Lingyu suddenly recalled her mentor's words—elves skilled in illusion were most afraid of fire elemental magic. Thinking of this, she unhesitatingly gathered her magic power continuously at the tip of her sword. With a whoosh, a burst of blazing flames erupted forth.
The once arrogant and domineering sprites, upon seeing the blazing flames, were immediately terrified and scattered in all directions. As the sprites fled, the terrifying illusion vanished.
Having successfully shaken off the sprites, Lingyu continued on her way. She hadn't gone far when she came upon a large door ahead, emitting a faint, eerie light. The door was densely covered with all sorts of strange runes, as if concealing countless untold secrets.
Standing before the door, Lingyu took a deep breath, then slowly reached out and gently pushed against the heavy door. With a dull thud, the door slowly opened. However, what appeared before Lingyu was a scene completely beyond her imagination.
Inside the gate was a magnificent and wondrous garden! The flowers here were enormous, each one taller than a person. Moreover, they shimmered with a faint light, appearing from afar like gaping maws waiting menacingly for prey to walk into their trap, ready to mercilessly devour any creature that dared to enter. Lingyu cautiously proceeded, discovering a winding path within the flowers. Following the path for a short while, she saw a crystal-clear sphere floating in the air, seemingly sealing something within.
Just as Lingyu approached the crystal ball, vines suddenly sprouted from the ground and wrapped around her legs. Immediately afterward, a deep voice rang out: "Outsider, you should not have set foot here." Lingyu struggled to break free of the vines and shouted to her surroundings, "I'm just passing by, I mean no harm." However, the voice ignored her, and more vines attacked her.
Lingyu swiftly swung her longsword, severing the vines and simultaneously shooting a beam of flame towards the crystal ball. The flame struck the crystal ball, emitting a dazzling light, before the vines ceased their attack. Taking advantage of the moment, Lingyu approached the crystal ball, only then realizing that a powerful magical sword was sealed within. Thinking this might be some kind of fortuitous encounter, Lingyu was about to try and break the seal to obtain the sword when she suddenly heard heavy footsteps behind her, as if a gigantic monster was approaching.
