Chapter 349 Untitled Draft 0
Chapter 349 Untitled Draft 0
As they sailed steadfastly across the vast ocean like a fearless fleet, the surging waves danced joyfully beside their sea monster mounts, splashing up sparkling spray. Sunlight bathed the shimmering sea, as if laying a golden brocade across the ocean. Suddenly, not far ahead, a small island, like a dreamlike fairyland, faintly appeared on the horizon. The island was like a dazzling pearl embedded in the blue sea, its scenery picturesque and breathtaking.
As they approached the island, the scene before them became increasingly clear. The island was shaded by lush green trees, their tall branches and leaves forming giant green umbrellas that cast cool, refreshing shadows. Birds sang merrily among the leaves, their colorful feathers shimmering in the sunlight. Flowers bloomed in profusion, a riot of colors vying for attention—red like fire, pink like the sunset, white like snow—and a gentle breeze caused them to sway softly, releasing a refreshing fragrance. The entire island presented a vibrant and lively scene, as if it were a masterpiece meticulously sculpted by nature.
However, when the island's inhabitants caught sight of Luffy and his crew riding their majestic sea monster, the peaceful atmosphere was instantly shattered. Their previously calm faces paled instantly, their eyes widening in terror and panic. Their faces turned deathly pale, as if they had seen some monstrous creature. Some residents' legs went weak, nearly collapsing to the ground; others screamed, their cries piercing the still air; still others scattered in panic, fleeing in all directions. In an instant, dust filled the island, and chaos reigned.
Seeing this, Luffy scratched his head, looking puzzled. His large eyes were filled with confusion as he muttered, "Do we look scary? Why is everyone running?" Zoro crossed his arms, a slight smirk playing on his lips, and scoffed, "These people are just cowards. They're scared out of their wits by our powerful presence." Nami, however, frowned warily, her bright eyes flashing with suspicion. She felt things weren't so simple. She carefully observed the islanders' reactions, thinking to herself, "There's definitely something more to this. It can't just be because they're afraid of us."
Just then, a thin, small child peeked out from behind a thick tree, furtively observing them. The child's eyes were large and bright, filled with curiosity and a hint of fear. He clung tightly to the tree trunk, his hands gripping it tightly, as if that would give him some sense of security. His little head cautiously turned from side to side, observing Luffy and his crew's every move, like a frightened squirrel, ready to dart to safety at any moment. Luffy's eyes lit up, and he smiled as he approached the child: "Hey, little friend, we won't hurt you." The child trembled with fear, stammering, "You...you're pirates with demonic sea monsters, you'll bring disaster."
It turned out that this island had once been attacked by pirates who rode terrifying sea monsters, committing atrocities of burning, killing, and looting. From then on, anyone seeing someone riding a sea monster assumed a villain was coming. Luffy laughed heartily upon hearing this, "We're not those kinds of bad guys, we're just passing through looking for treasure." He then took out some food and offered it to the child. The child hesitated for a moment, then took the food, the fear in his eyes gradually disappearing. Slowly, the other residents also began to cautiously gather around.
Just as everyone was gradually lowering their guard, suddenly, dark clouds filled the sky, and a fierce wind arose. The once calm sea surged with towering waves, and enormous sea monsters emerged from the depths—the same terrifying sea monsters that had attacked the island before. On the back of these monsters stood a group of ferocious-looking pirates. They had heard that people riding sea monsters had landed on the island and, assuming it was fellow pirates coming to seize their territory, had rushed over immediately. The residents' hearts, which had just settled, jumped again, and they cried out in terror. Luffy, his eyes resolute, shouted, "Don't be afraid, everyone! Watch us drive these bad guys away!" Zoro drew his three swords, and Nami prepared to unleash her Clima-Tact technique. The battle was about to begin. The pirates brandished their weapons and charged menacingly at Luffy and his crew. Luffy leaped onto the back of one of the sea monsters and punched a pirate, sending him flying. Zoro weaved through the pirates like a whirlwind, his sword flashing, and pirates fell one after another. Nami manipulated the weather, unleashing bolts of lightning that struck the pirates, leaving them battered and bruised. Under the valiant fight of Luffy and his crew, the pirates gradually succumbed and finally fled in disarray.
